Rittenhouse Rye Bottled in Bond

Smells like hot pepper, hard candy like root beer barrels and butterscotch, cinnamon. Tastes quite peppery, caramel, butterscotch, maybe some fruit in there like apple or golden raisin, spicy cinnamon, and a smooth, minty feel. This is my first rye whiskey and I like it.

An "ok" rye for the price. Has typical rye notes, spicy and vanilla, but felt muted and weak. At this price point, I'd prefer Old Overholt.

My go-to mixing rye!

Mellow and slightly sweet. I do taste the maple after, as suggested. Good stuff.
