Rogue Dead Guy Whiskey

The new packaging is great. You have to graduate from beer bottles at some point in your life, we all do. Isn’t that what they say? Isnt what who says? The whiskey...is coming along. This should not have been released yet. The whiskey is too young. Minimum of two years it says, Maximum of two years it is. It’s a bit too sweet and unbalanced. The malt bill carries the day here, much like the beer it’s distilled from however there’s just not quite enough depth to make it worth the money. Yet. Rogue has come along way with their spirits and they are showing strides of improvement and don’t seem to be slowing down. I look forward to when they really get the patience to release some mature fine tuned product."

It tastes like flat 80 proof beer. Because it is. Not really my jam. Scrape the ink off the bottle and it makes a nice decanter.

To me this tastes like sourdough bread soaked in flavorless whisky. I won’t be reaching for another pour.

Irish whiskey

Extra earth, oceanic

Honestly smells "funky" the initial taste is not bad but the aftertaste is almost like burnt coffee. It's a very complex feel and is definitely one to dissect with friends. Definitely not one to drink for a good sit in.

Although not great, It was fairly unremarkable. I would say it’s a bit better than the other ratings. Nose was various fruits and vanilla. First touch on the tongue seemed to be missing something, like it was very watered down or had been on the rock and the ice melted an hour ago. The flavor kick in a second or two later. Sweet vanilla and fruit, combined with the char. It reminded me of growing up my family would grill half peaches over the fire. The sweet fruit fade to char, wood, and mild vanilla. The mild fruit flavors return to linger in the back of the mouth similar to a dry wine.
