Sagamore Spirit Double Oak Rye

Reviewed August 27, 2022Nose: licorice, burnt toast, dried tea Palate: sage, figs, jam Finish: allspice, nutmeg, pepper. Overall: interesting take on the double oak. It definitely tames the rye but the rye also tames some of the barrel character. The char works so well with the rye spice. But it’s missing some of that sweet vanilla and caramel notes that I would typically expect 6 on the t8ke scale -

Reviewed June 12, 2022 (edited October 14, 2022)First time tasting whiskey from Maryland. Pleasantly surprised! Big nose of brown sugar and slight butterscotch and sweet vanilla. The double oak really comes through on the mid palate. Finishes shorter than I would want but palate pleasure none the less. Not for a high proof lover. Sits at about 98proof but drinks more like a 90proof.47.99 USD per Bottle -

Reviewed June 4, 2022 (edited June 5, 2022)On the nose I get leather, brown sugar and some ethanol. Palate: a bit of sweetness like Carmel. That a nice not in the middle of the palate. Round out by barrel spices. This is all subtle but it’s good. Finish: finishes with some of that subtle sweetness and leather. Overall: I’d buy another bottle. It’s solid. Not my fav rye but this is a decent pour.
