Second tasting - on the nose there’s a sweet Smokey aroma
Taste - first flavour is the spice which stays with u long term. The smoke is there but plays second fiddle - over all very well balanced
After party - once everything settles and you think the experience is by.... then the smoke rises up as a final farewell
To be clear, I’m not a peat fan, but this is fantastic. Slight tcp on the nose, first taste is alcohol, followed instantly by spicy. The smoke and peat are there, but the whole dram is balanced in a way that the flavour constant attack your tastebuds.... the BSDM of whisky. Even if you don’t like peat or smoke, please try this spicy little number
The first sip feels like being sucker punched by an ash fume that temporarily took a corporeal form. Ashy, then creamy, then back to smokey. Very long finish - the cigarette-like nose and flavour sticks around long after the drink has gone down the gullet.
As this is my first foray into peaty scotch, my rating might change in the future. For now, I would say it certainly makes an emphatic statement about what to expect from this category of whiskies.
