Macallan is great, hands down, but it’s always haunted by the price tag… The doble oak adds an extra layer of richness and complexity but, not particularly extraordinary.
Nose: Sweet apricot jam and honey with a dark brown sugar note.
Palate: Creamy mouthfeel. Quite malt forward. Some very gentle baking spice.
Finish: The spices subside and leave a caramelly nut brittle with some stone fruit drizzle. Woody notes persist long into the aftertaste.
Notes: This one is mainly about the finish.
