Traveller Whiskey

Nose: side by side, has the standard wheated bourbon nose: slight vanilla and caramel, but with more fruit. Papaya, stewed apples, oak. Palette: sweet cinnamon and cordial cherries, not as sweet as wheated standard, there seems to be a peanut note and some sweet rye present. The finish has short flavor but dry tannins linger. Id say an older candain rye is mixed in there. Perfect for the everyday, well balanced.

BT has emphasized approachability with this blend and succeeded. As an intro to bourbon, it is a neat (pun intended) and innocuous pour. The nose is sweet; vanilla with a bit of cherry and perhaps some hay. Palate provides mediu. body, light baking spice and cherry coke flavors. Finish is is fairly short continuation of the spice and cherry coke, quickly fading to a memory of sweetness. Good bourbon 101 (class, not proof) blend that will encourage a rapid graduation to a more sophisticated offering such as Blantons or Eagle Rare.

Had a malted milkshake smell that ends on a fruity cherry note. In the first taste there was some marshmallow notes. Subsequent tastes brought out peanuts and leather. The after taste had a lingering medicinal cherry taste but not awful. Tasted side by side with BT and found BT was sweeter. Went back to Travellers and found chocolate notes. There might be some hints of Rye in there.
