Woodford Reserve Master's Collection Five-Malt Stouted Mash

This is a very interesting whiskey. To start out, it comes at you with some really weird scents on the nose. It's like mix of smelling fresh wheat in a grain bin... but also mixed in with paint thinner. Fortunately on the palate you don't get paint thinner, but what you do get is almost like a really high abv beer. Lots of earthy tones from the grain with a building rye spearmint spice to round it out. It has a decently long finish with that rye spice lingering on your lips. Final verdict: I'm not impressed. I certainly regret paying $134 for this considering the same money would've gotten me another bottle of little book chapter 5. I think distiller missed the mark on this review.

Really unique and still getting my arms around it a bit. It has a lot of the same notes as a high alcohol porter stout. Definitely a winter pour and pretty tasty.

A little sweet but goes well with a 2” cube. Unique.

Intriguing whiskey. If you enjoy beer this is your thing.

This one is not going to be for everyone. Don't let the nose put you off. Nose: Musty roasted malt. *Immediately reminds me of Chocolate Malted Rye. Some oak, cherry is faint. Cocoa. Taste: cocoa and baked fruit with maybe some orange zest. Finish remains the same. Malt and cocoa. I am not generally a malt fan. For bourbon. But this is good. Perfect pairing to the stout!
