Flaviar advent calendar day #20
Nose: cherry, sweet fruity aroma, some toasty oak spice, some mild caramel and cinnamon. Slight orange zest. A light smoke
Palate: caramel, toffee. A little bit of hazelnut. This is a rich bourbon. A bit bready. Slight hint of citrus zest. Spicy wood. Definitely getting both corn and rye grain
Finish: chocolate starts it very briefly, then fades off into a mildly spicy and warm oak tannic note. After a few minutes of finishing the last sip, and having water, there's a significant eucalyptus/herbal note lingering on the tongue.
A rich amber, goldish color. The color is becoming of the brand name. The scent of caramel, corn, flat peppercorn, sweetness,. Cloudy taste of smoke, cinnamon, heat, dry clove, and chalk. The sweetness doesn't come through a lot in the taste as it does in the smell. The alcohol is medium strength but briefly fades away. A bit oily and coating finish. Solid bourbon but needs some refining.
My first taste of Yellowstone was years ago with friends. A good bottle with good company is the best combination. Going back to it I still appreciate the flavor profile. Scents of rich caramel, orange zest and baked brioche. The taste gives off a candied baked food vibe. Taste of red fruit and spicy Rye with a warm lengthy finish. This is a bottle to enjoy with company or over the holidays with family.
