Initial pour.
Nose: Starts with vanilla and hay, then adds some caramel and cider. Usually hay and cider are not my favorite notes, but somehow with the vanilla and caramel, I find it appealing.
Palate: Viscous entry, bittersweet, brown sugar, caramel and rye spices.
Finish: Spicy, long.
Distiller Review No. 970
Nose is sweet with notes of vanilla, honey, citrus, apple and caramel. Front of the palate is predominately vanilla and caramel. Flavor evolves to an oakiness, pepper and leather. Finish has a salty and drying quality that lingers for a medium length.
Between this and Wild Turkey 101, all I can taste from this mash bill is peanuts, caramel, and very light smoke. Even at $27/bottle, this felt overpriced.
