Tastes

I've heard great things so I went into this with high hopes. Those hopes were crushed like a poorly constructed schooner on the rocks of my taste buds. Dramatic? Maybe, but we'll deserved. The nose falls flat. Mostly alcohol and a tad bit of caramel corn. On the palate it's light, very alcohol forward. Hints of the caramel corn on the nose, a little bit of vanilla, then it falls flat on its face. It's finish is short and unfulfilling.

Sweet vanilla cream and malt on the nose. The palate is very creamy and smooth. Sweet but not overwhelming. Definitely taste the PX and Olorosso blend. Overall a great pour

Very similar nose to the 21, but less complex. Dark chocolate and fruitcake on the nose. On the palate it's a little dry, dark chocolate, sweet. Tobacco undertones. Raisins in the back.

Bitter dark chocolate and black coffee and truffles on the nose. Palate is fruity with a bit baking spice and vanilla. Reminds me of a caramel fruit candy with a bit of earthiness on the back. Excellent

If candy was a whiskey. Cherries and peaches on the nose with just a hint of alcohol. It literally explodes in the mouth. First off, it's definitely a malt, so make sure you're expecting some Scotch profile. The fruit gives way to smooth baking spices and a long warm finish. It's wonderful.

Absolutely delicious. Tons of fruit and vanilla on the nose. The flavor profile is barely "bourbon" but in a good way. Fruity with just a hint of cinnamon on the front. Sweet vanilla, apples and leathery finish on the back. Long, warm, pleasant finish. Reminds me of wild turkey masters keep Revival. Probably the sherry cask.

A young spicy rye. A little bit of oak, but not very much. Black pepper, baking spice, and leather up front. A little hint of sweet, then a short punchy finish. Not bad, but honestly much better rye out there in the price range.

I feel like this tastes like what a non bourbon drinker thinks bourbon tastes like. Bold and spicy. Tobacco and leather. Like an old lazy-boy in a cigar bar. Very classic flavors.

Vanilla and chocolate on the nose. Very similar profile to the Weller SR, just more "grown up." Holds its own on the palate. Sweet and syrupy. Definitely worth it's weight at retail, maybe not secondary prices.

The color is very light. Like amber tinted sunglasses. Sweet up front. Very non-citrus fruity. I definitely feel like it's smokier and a little more floral than the official tasting notes. It's definitely something unique and worth a try, but maybe not worth a second purchase. Try it at a bar before you drop $60.
