A distinctly scotch-y nose with a little tobacco and oak underneath. Clearly blended whisky just from the aroma. The taste is complex. Peat, and flower petals with bourbon like vanilla and oak. The finish is long and smokey. Overall good sip. Worth the hunt.64.99 USD per BottleOak Point Fresh Market

Stagg Jr Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch 1
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 6, 2019 (edited December 31, 2019)Sugary with cinnamon spice. Fruity on the back end with notes of smoked oak. Smoother than the proof. Like George T but younger. -
Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Four Grain Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 6, 2019 (edited January 4, 2020)This was phenomenal. Sweetness from the wheat. Spice on the back end from the rye. Buttery vanilla mixed with leather and black pepper. Easy on the nose. Damn it's good! -
Tasting a single barrel select from Calandro's Baton Rouge 11/21/19 On the nose it's cigars, vanilla, and alcohol vapors. The alcohol is there, but not terribly overpowering. Up front its sweet with a little alcohol burn. The finish is spicy. Hints of peppers and tobacco smoke. This tastes like a cigar smells, but in a good way. Overall, not bad but not terribly memorable.22.49 USD per BottleCalandro's Supermarket (Perkins)

Weller Special Reserve Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 15, 2019 (edited December 11, 2019)Again, if you've read my past reviews, you know I'm partial to Wheated Bourbons. I love the play of sweet wheat against the typical bourbon flavors. Nothing over complex here. Sweet vanilla and fruit. Little bit of spice in the middle. I like this, and can totally understand why it's so sought after in the price range. -
Maker's Mark Wood Finishing Series 2019 RC6
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 11, 2019 (edited December 4, 2019)In short, phenomenal. I'm a big Maker’s fan and wheat fan in general. This tastes like all the best parts of 46 and cask strength put together. The setup: Neat in a Taylor'd Milestones Glass, rested for about 10 minutes In the nose it instantly hits with Maker’s trademark fruit, vanilla and spice. As soon as it hits your tongue, faint bananas and apples explode along with vanilla and brown sugar. Incredibly smooth with a long complex finish. Get your hands on a bottle while you can.59.99 USD per BottleCalandro's Supermarket (Perkins) -
Maker's Mark Cask Strength
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 6, 2019 (edited November 20, 2019)Like Maker's Mark, but with bite. The typical spice and fruitiness is there as well as the sweet vanilla cream followed by a little heat from the proof. If you're a fan of Maker's or Wheated bourbons in general, you can't go wrong here. I'd recommend drinking neat after a few minutes of rest. The bottle I had was plenty smooth on its own.59.99 USD per BottleCalandro's Supermarket (Perkins) -
Very good overall rye. Tasted neat in a Glencairn rested for 10min. On the nose are hints of rye and chocolate. The first sip makes me think of chocolate cereal with fruit. Think, chocolate raisin bran. The longer you hold it, the more cereal quality you get. Finish is long and spicy.49.99 USD per BottleHokus Pokus Liquor - Prairieville
