Russell's Reserve 10 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 26, 2018 (edited August 5, 2018)Well, I am slightly disappointed. So many great reviews and such hype and I bought it all. It is not horrible (what bourbon is), this is just not what I was expecting. Very oaky, reminds me of a scotch... which is what I am struggling with. If I want Scotch, I will buy Scotch. I will handle this bottle like any other, just won’t buy anymore. Maybe time will open this up for me. I wanted to like this so much too. Sorry folks. Just a strait 3/5. Update- I have tried this at least 5 mire times, both before and after other bourbons.... still disappointed. This is just way to Smokey or oaky, whichever is the overpowering taste. I do find it a bit sweeter after multiple try’s, but dang that smoke taste kills it for me. Sorry WT, love your brand, but this is a miss for me. -
Old Forester 1870 Original Batch
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 14, 2018 (edited November 1, 2018)This was a very pleasant surprise, well balanced right after opening, which not all bourbons seem to be. It was sweeter than expected with less burn at end. I believe all the data for this that Distiller has is spot on. However, pause for effect.... no way does the 86 proof beat this like it shows in the ratings in this app. NO WAY. This has a chance to be my everyday at the end of my bourbon journey. Would give it 3.6 if I could, come on Distiller.... add halves please. 10 months later and a 2nd go round with another bottle. Same as before, but it is better this time. After trying many other bourbons this is hands down on of my favorite pours. I like the sweet taste. Great work OF! -
“To all who shall see these presents, greetings.... “ That is the beginning of a Marine Corps promotion citation. I am promoting E.H. Taylor to General now that I have tried the small batch. Excellent, I understand the hype now. This is as delicious as the pursuit of finding it. Sweet as a summer vacation, yet plenty of balance to remind you it’s not a drink with an umbrella in it. Well worth the PA price tag of $38. Rates a 4.2/5

Larceny Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 21, 2018 (edited April 6, 2018)This gets a 2.5 because it is decent and a very great price. Sweet taste gives into a tad strong back taste. Definitely worth its price point. -
I do not find this to be as sweet as the profile, but man it’s delicious. It is an everyday sipper that should grace everyone’s cabinet.... The pa price tag recently went up to $25.99 (1 dollar increase), but it is still a bargain. Well, 3rd bottle and a year later and this is still good, however, ( pause for effect) there are better juices. The price is what makes this so good. The 1.75 Ltr bottle is $50, which is a tasty choice. But, for 10 or so beans less the Four Roses is a better option and is always available.
