Tastes

Nose...botanical, juniper, peat... Color... Light to medium amber... Taste... Like a bottle of Gin. Wasn't able to pick up Bourbon notes. Not sure what I'm drinking. Overall... Not for me whatsoever. It's either that my taste buds are off or I've just found one I'm not into at all. If I were to guess the age of this Bourbon I'd say it were 2 years as it seems so immature. I will be giving the rest of this bottle away.

Nose... Oranges, oak, brown sugars, caramel and chocolate. Appearance... Medium to dark amber. Taste... A big punch of rye is quite apparent. It's followed by a sweet corn taste and a dry fruit note. Following that is chocolate and pepper... Overall... At $24.00 it's a STEAL. It's full of nuance and flavor and the mash bill which highly rye is matched perfectly with the corn and barely balance. A great value and should definitely be a bottle for your cabinet.

Nose... Caramel, chocolate, banana, cinnamon and ethanol due to the high alcohol volume... Color... A wonderfully rich mahogany.. Taste... It's really complex to say the least. From cinnamon to apricots to pepper and brown sugar, all the way to licorice and seasoned wood it's a very welcoming handful... Overall.... It's a STEAL to be honest. The Lincoln county process makes this whiskey a must have. It's just so flavorful at a very intense ABV. Just damn good and, I will be happy to buy another bottle once this is desert dry...

Nose.... Butterscotch, fruit, ethanol and spice.. Color.... A light to medium amber.. Taste... Sweet rye, pepper, caramel, chocolate and cinnamon all came to the forefront. Overall... Another solid addition to the Russell line. Offers great flavor and plenty of chew at a solid price...A definite for the Rye sector...

Nose... Ice cream sundae with chocolate, caramel and nuts.. Butterscotch and finally green apples... Color...Mid to dark copper Taste... Sweet corn followed by a strong bite of rye. A touch of leather and butterscotch are apparent as well... Overall... I really think that they've come up with a fantastic fusion of old and new in this bottle. The matured 11 year Kentucky very much balances the young and biting 2 year blends. This is one heck of a solid whiskey, well done and hats off....

Nose... Light and clean. Sweet scent without much alcohol present. A touch of vanilla and burnt sugar... Color... Golden to Amber... Taste... Lincoln County for sure. Oak, pepper, brown sugar, Carmel, chocolate, leather and more... Overall... It's solid and a definite keeper. If you look at my taste profile and add it up you've got this beauty which is smooth, strong, and filled with nuance.

Nose... Sweet caramel corn and vanilla... Appearance... Light copper... Taste... Corn heavy, sweet, chocolate, with notes of nuts and pepper. Overall... Just such a solid sipping Bourbon. It has a nice, smooth balanced flavor. Tastes nice and sweet at first, with rich sweet corn and cereal grains following through towards the finish. Really enjoyable..

Nose... Butterscotch, chocolate, vanilla and Rich and sweet fruits. Color... A modest light to medium amber Taste... The port barrel finish is real, cereal grains, chocolate, dark fruits, and seasoned wood.... Overall... It's simply fantastic from the get go. I'll definitely have this in my Port collection and I am just so pleased with the wonderful whiskey that this was before the port finish...

From the nose which exhibits the cask, dark fruits, and toffee, to the dark amber hue when poured neatly, it's one fine drink. The overall rich yet smooth flavor this cask finished bourbon exhibits is fantastic at the price point I found it at. If I had to pay the normal $65 I would still have been satisfied albeit less so... Solid, yet from what I've been told it no longer is being bottled.. Look for it on the cheap if you can...

Nose... Simple caramel and roasted corn. Sweet and oat heavy.... Appearance... A light to medium Amber... Taste... Cereal dominant, almost like a dry bowl of Cheerios. The flavor is corn influenced, with grass and earthy tones. Overall... At the price point it makes more than sense. In my humble, almost conspiracy type of opinion, they (Binnys) have taken a very nice barrel of bourbon, and consumed themselves what they seemed reasonable and have then watered down the rest to bottle it as is. Is this bad? No, not at all, better than most bottom shelf. Holds it's own neat and when I consider that I paid $13 it's really a shelf taker.
