Knob Creek Single Barrel Select Bourbon W-L F-05 R-031 (Binny's Beverage Depot)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 31, 2019 (edited January 20, 2020)Nose... This stands out immediately, while there is a definite proof factor in the nose, the aging has developed such sweet characteristics that it's almost as if you are at a local ice cream shop taking in the air... Appearance... Thanks to the aging this has a beautifully rich medium to dark mahogany hue which easily conveys the flavor you were about to consume... Taste... Huge flavors. Spice for days, pepper, a multitude of different ice cream sundae flavors between the nuts to the vanilla and butterscotch, rounding out with tobacco, coffee and leather, this bourbon has it all... Overall... Pick yourself up a bottle. The current buyer for Binny's couldn't say enough about this barrel. It's legit as far as overall taste and value are concerned. At $40 for a barrel proof which has this complexity is why Binny's has such a great Private Selection portfolio. This is a must and when drinking neat is like an ice cream sundae slowly melting away but still so good enough to scoop up towards the end...40.0 USD per Bottlebinny's -
David Nicholson Reserve Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky (bottled in Missouri), USA
Reviewed March 30, 2019 (edited October 23, 2019)Nose... Freshly baked and still warm Ginger and vanilla cookies, followed by pecan wood and a definite hint of Apple, black pepper and oats.. Appearance... Only a slight to medium amber nature which is deceiving since it achieves so much flavor it's basically shocking... Taste... Cereal grains, pecan pie, sweet honey chocolate, rye grains and a definite vanilla coating making it's presence known... Overall... Priceless.. At $30 a bottle and being able to get this as needed is wonderful. It has compete nuance in it's ability to take such flavor from the barrel. This is what I look for when I'm looking for depth. If it were a bit more viscous it would be dangerous as it's so good as is. You can literally chew on this whiskey, bite after bite I keep coming back for more... Thank you Mr. Nicholson....30.0 USD per BottleBinny's Beverage Depot -
Rowan's Creek Nose... Picking up refined herbal notes, followed by coffee, anise and apricot. Appearance... A light mahogany with slow running legs... Taste... Initially it's all herbal and earthy with notes of leather, then it's a straight b-line to the baked goods aisle with chocolate chip cookies stepping up and and oaty cereal poking it's head out.... Overall... Another KEEPER, HUGE HUGE HUGE... I'll be keeping this in my home stash as long as the price stays steady. It's full of nuance, a great dessert drink which would pair tremendously with a rich brownie topped with powdered sugar.. This is a dessert whiskey in my humble opinion... Solid!!!42.0 USD per BottleHeinen's Grocery Store

Wheat Whiskey — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 25, 2019 (edited May 11, 2020)Nose... Chocolatey cereal, oats, and overall very nutty.. Appearance... From dark copper to a light mahogany this Wheater displays it's seven years... Taste... From rich and creamy, to coffee and smoke there's plenty going on. The finish lasts longer than you'd imagine, and stays with long after you've taken a pull... Overall... For the simple fact that it's just so so easy to sip upon, offering heat, nuance, such sweetness and a soft mouth feel it's truly enjoyable...34.0 USD per BottleBinny's Beverage Depot -
Weller Special Reserve Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 20, 2019 (edited May 11, 2020)Nose... Because the wheat is so clean and sweet it leaves room for subtleties like apples, pears, and fresh wood, along with a slightly nutty finish. Appearance... A fine balance between amber and copper, with plenty of rich color from time will spent in the barrel. Taste... Initially it is so so candied sweet, not dominant, just rich and utterly creamy. Also coming across is fruit, particularly citrus and pears. On the back end is a rich cocoa and nutty note, finally finishing with an established warmth that lasts... Overall, this is extraordinary for the price. The fact that it comes with a cap and not a cork is so so funny. This whiskey could easily sell for $40 or more but the fact that it didn't isn't what makes this fantastic, it's the flavor they've bottled up. Such a great bargain, one of the best, not just in whiskey, but in life in general...27.0 USD per BottleGlenview Liquors Inc -
Nose... Fruit forward with a dominant pear and green apple influence. Finishing this whirlwind off is the sweet aroma of an ice cream sundae dripping with vanilla and butterscotch. Appearance... With ten years in the barrel you get the rich copper colors that reach mahogany levels as well. Taste... Let's just start naming the incredible places you'll go. Ice cream sundae, banana split, oats, pears, green apples, leather, cocoa, grassy, nutty, and just plain GREAT. Overall... It's a must for your home bar if you can find a bottle. It's really as good as I've tried to describe it. This bottle epitomizes not only strong bold flavors, but also runs the gamut to sweetly delicate. The way it's first initial burst is so sweet and candied which is then followed by such a fine delicate burn is remarkable. Truly extraordinary, it's almost as if they've barreled it a second time in some sort of port wine, but they don't... How!? So so good...40.0 USD per BottleR&J Wine & Spirits

Very Old Barton 100 Proof Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 16, 2019 (edited May 11, 2020)Nose... Picking up a light citrus note and leather. Almost pine tree like. Definite touch of alcohol. Appearance... Medium to darker gold, a tinge of amber. Taste... The oily profile is real which was a nice first touch in my opinion. This is followed by an initial burst of ethanol. After that a bit of seasoned wood and pepper with a slight pear note. Overall... This is a true bust. Nothing special at all. The nuance is lost behind the proof which is a shame since that isnt necessary. Plenty of high proof have flavor and complexity. This is just standard whiskey, and sure it has some decent flavors, in general though it's only a $20 and under at most. Anything above $20 is a scam. Not home bar worthy in the least bit....39.99 USD per BottleR&J Wine & Spirits -
Nose... Maple Syrup meets ethanol and banana pie... Quite the combo.. Appearance... A balance of gold and light amber... Taste... I can't say enough about the unique flavor of graham crackers, nutmeg and a bit of pepper on the back end that this KSB offers. Really intriguing... Overall... I will definitely come back to this KSB due to its reasonable price and the enjoyable flavors it has to offer. Drinking this neat due to the lower proof was a good way to go and I'll be coming back for this as long as I have it available. Definite home bar necessity..34.99 USD per BottleBinny's Beverage Depot

Slaughter House American Whiskey
Other Whiskey — (Bottled in California), USA
Reviewed March 8, 2019 (edited August 3, 2019)Nose... Fruity and floral, and easily picking up on the Bordeaux Papillon. Appearance... Darker than most, possibly due to the secondary aging. A maroon, cherry hue. Taste... Wow! Immediately it reminded me of a chocolate covered cherry, not in the flavor, though there are hints of chocolate and cherry in the wine profile, but like the candy itself, this whisky has a 2-step flavor profile. You get an instant taste of an apparently great Bordeaux, that is then followed up by a fantastic whisky. So much cocoa and fruit that is chewy and lasts long after you've swallowed. Overall, it's a huge success in my book. Drinking this as a dessert drink neat is a no brainier. Grab a bottle if you can.42.0 USD per BottleBinny's Beverage Depot -
Color... Apple Juice gold, light sunny amber and less dark than others. Nose... Rye all day long. If you know rye whisky then you'll pick up the 95 percent rye immediately. Sweet and leathery, tobacco like. Definite fruit though and alcohol burn. Taste... The Tennessee smooth sipping style is apparent immediately. It matches the spiciness that the rye offers and mellows it perfectly, bringing about such sundae type flavors. Overall it's just so solid for the price and quality. At 20.00 USD it's an absolute steal, a must have in your collection of rye whisky and brown liquor in general.20.0 USD per BottleBinny's Beverage Depot
