Old Forester Single Barrel Bourbon 90 Proof
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 17, 2019 (edited August 10, 2019)Nose... It's as if someone just baked Blondie's and not brownies as a treat. The aroma of carmalized sugar, butter, cinnamon and salt creating a liquid desert... Appearance... A light to medium copper poured neatly... Taste... The cereal grain is apparent. Breakfast Oats are up front with the corn forward but balanced. It has a nutty and old wood flavor. Finishing the overall profile is a nice hint of sweet fruits... Overall... For the price I paid for this Binny's handpicked Single Barrel, it's a STEAL. It's full of flavor and the proof is perfectly set for pouring itself neatly. A great value and definitely something that will keep me coming back. I really don't know the age statement but it appears they've taken their time with this KSBW...39.99 USD per BottleBinny's Beverage Depot -
Jefferson's Ocean Aged at Sea Voyage 16
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 8, 2019 (edited February 11, 2020)Nose... Like warm candied apples with a hint of sea salt.. Refined and rich with definite dessert qualities... Appearance... a nice dark amber mixed with light copper... Taste... The sea salt is as real as I could have hoped for. I can sense the brine that they set out for. It's bright, peppery, and filled with sweet notes throughout... Overall.... Astounding, truly it's remarkable how the sea comes through. While this leave almost dessert set to me, the ocean is in each nip. Very enjoyable.... -
Nose....A sweet appearance of fresh banana, soft vanilla, burnt butterscotch and true ethanol saturate the air. Appearance...A nice light mahogany with rich red hues. Taste....A balanced, almost soft peppery bite followed up by sweet fruit and burnt caramel. Overall... This Wheater is definitely the meaner of the brothers in this Weller wheat family. The higher proof lends a big helping dose of heat, which truly separates this from the Green Weller. No matter the heat, this whiskey offers a refined sweetness, and a wonderfully dry finish. Is it worth searching high and low for? Probably not, but it's surely good and has a definite quality to it's overall appeal...40.0 USD per Bottle

Nose... Toffee, vanilla, peaches, cocoa and coffee... Almost an ice cream sundae. Appearance... Medium to dark copper, borderline mahogany... Taste.... Utterly sweet brown sugar with a touch of coffee and chocolate. The rye is definitely noticeable and makes a perfect appearance. A leather and pepper note is apparent from the middle to finish and is a welcomed friend... Overall... At $22.99/750ml it's a steal. Between this and Rittenhouse I've got the lower cost Rye category covered and under at $26/bottle. This is an easy go to for a nice dessert type rye. Served neat and enjoying as I type...22.99 USD per BottleBinny's Beverage Depot

Stagg Jr Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch 1
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 25, 2019 (edited May 11, 2020)Nose... Getting past the definitive blast of alcohol, the notes of pecans, vanilla and bananas are present. Mellows after opening up and this is when I was able to notice a bit of chocolate and tobacco. Appearance... A rich copper to an almost mahogany darkness... Taste... Dominating alcohol, followed by sweet cereal grains, cocoa and pears... Overall... Big and bold out of the gate with a dominating ethanol and pepper heat note. Chewing on this I pick up a nice texture, oily and rich. Finishing it off notes of chocolate and tobacco are prevalent. All in all I wasn't particularly floored by this. It's alright, but not what I was imagining due to the hype.49.99 USD per BottleBinny's Beverage Depot -
Nose... Clean, vegetative almost, hints of leather and smokiness, slight touch of vanilla and grass... Appearance... Medium to dark amber with hints of light copper... Taste... Port wine cherry, peaches, oats, oily and rich, vanilla, the wine is there initially and again approaching the end... Overall... GRANDSLAM....I am on my second night in and just couldn't be happier sipping on this neat. The nuance of the port wine is just so apparent and done so well that I'm almost reconsidering what I thought I knew about port wine finished Bourbon. It's truly exceptional and will never not be in my rotation....49.99 USD per BottleBinny's Beverage Depot

Straight Edge Bourbon
Bourbon — Tennessee and Kentucky (Finished and Bottled in California), USA
Reviewed April 11, 2019Nose... Think dessert. Almost like flan or creme brulee. So so sweet, like the inside of a marshmallow just broken open... Appearance... A nice and clean light mahogany... Taste... Rich dark fruits from the Cabernet leads to a nutty, full balanced flavor, with wheat notes followed by nutmeg and chocolate finishing it off. Overall... Graham crackers and nutty is my first taste. Followed by banana and pepper, backed up by the rich Cabernet notes on the back and sides of my taste buds. Finishing it off is a gentle Kentucky Hug that lets you know your drinking good Bourbon, one that's best sipped neatly with dessert... FOR THE PRICE THOUGH I'D GO WITH THE slaughterhouse INSTEAD.49.0 USD per BottleBinny's Beverage Depot -
Nose... Sweet candied fruit, honey, peat Appearance....light golden wheat Taste... Toffee, caramel, earthy, muddy.... Overall... Started nice in the nose and the strong oily legs that appeared after a few swirls. Upon first taste I was intrigued by the rich sundae flavors that it exhibited. After that it was all scotch all day and no thanks from there. It just fell SO SO SO FLAT it was appalling... No thanks and not again...14.0 USD per PourWhiskey Thief Tavern

Nose... Definitely Bourbon forward, sweet cherries, tree bark, warm pecan pie and a bit of vanilla, almost donut like... The wine and Sherry come early just lightly.. Appearance...a light to medium copper... Taste... Initially the wine and Sherry influence is there, followed by a corn rich bourbon note, mint, peanuts and pepper... Overall... For the price point of $34usd, it's a definite must try and even to buy a bottle of. As far as the overall complexity that I was hoping for in a Sherry influenced bourbon it just didn't meet it. If it somehow managed to pull the Sherry more so it would have been remarkable. As far as the bourbon is concerned it's solid, but I know other Sherry types that meet my expectations more so than Legent has so far.... Maybe Cask it next time?34.0 USD per BottleBinny's Beverage Depot
