Private Barrel Rishi's "KitKat" Single Barrel Barrel # 6833519 Rickhouse J Floor 3 On the nose, there's notes of caramel, wafer, peanut, maple, and some leather and oak in the back. Heavy dark caramel on the palate. Peanut brittle going into oak. Nice spicy burn at the end. There's little unique notes im finding throughout with each different sip. This is a first for me as for as EC private barrels, (not including the barrel proofs.) And I'm enjoying it.

There's apple and vanilla that's easily on the nose. Almost dessert like. Nice burnt oak in there as well. Spice is present. The palate opens with spice and cinnamon. That apple and vanilla then come through as dark caramel and oak continue throughout to the finish. It's dark caramel heavy. The oak is present but well balanced throughout. Manages to have some decedent quality to it while the heat and oak are present. To be a bit critical, it tastes as if it's more proofy than it is. (I was a bit surprised by the proof on my single barrel bottle.) With that, it's still very easy to drink and very flavorful. I wouldn't sleep on this. Cheers everybody.

A fine bottle with nice flavor to it. It's pretty much a vanilla bomb. Vanilla. Frosting. Citrus. Nice burnt note. Some pine in the nose. Continuous vanilla throughout tasting it. Very sweet. Ends with oak and dark caramel with some spice. Lingers in a bitter way. It's a drinkable bottle. Straightforward.

Rabbit Hole Cavehill Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed January 20, 2024 (edited January 21, 2024)After some time, there's a noticeable walnut on the nose. Some vanilla. Honey. Very sweet. I only wished it tasted the way it smelled. Heavy mint. Gives you that mouthfeel you'd expect. It's a bit herbal. Some nuttiness is there, but not much to get truly noticed. Dark caramel. Decent amount of burn for 95 proof, but nothing off-putting. Decent finish. To me, this is a slightly above average bottle. Nothing is really bad about it. There's a bit too much mint for my liking, but it's fine. Nothing stands out. I've noticed some more vanilla on the palate after a few more sips, but it didn't help to win me over. It's very drinkable. I'll give it that. But the flavor profile lacks that, 'wow' factor. -
The nose is clearly reminiscent of wine. Berry. Grape. Sweet fruit juice. The palate tastes like the previously mentioned notes and not much else. Dark berry, more specifically. It finishes on just some slight oak. There was a bit of tartness there, which was pleasant. It's a fruit bomb. Not much other than that is present, which is perfectly fine. This is more than a suitable bottle for many occasions. It's certainly easy drinking. It lacks some noticeable complexity, but it's still an experiment that Im glad the distillery went for.

New Riff Malted Rye Bottled in Bond
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 9, 2024 (edited March 29, 2024)Vanilla and orange peel the nose. More vanilla on the palate. Some burnt oak. More of a noticable mint with each sip. Salty caramel. There's a really nice oak on the finish. Some chocolate. Nice mouthfeel as well. Easy to sip. -
I went ahead and bumped this to 4 stars. It tastes much better than expected with its young age. That doesn't mean that it doesn't show at times. It certainly tastes hotter than its labeled proof. Spice, coffee, vanilla, nougat, and oak on the nose. Im getting some banana and apple quickly on the palate, which dissipates into that nougat that I noticed on the nose. Some graham cracker. There's a roasty note that lingers on the finish, which is quite pleasant. Solid mouthfeel. Quite a bit of depth, and even with its heat, it doesn't undermine those flavors. Could possibly be the best 40$ bottles from a craft distillery I've bought in some time.

West Fork Whsky Co. Bottled in Bond Wheated Bourbon
Bourbon — Indiana, USA
Reviewed December 29, 2023 (edited January 17, 2024)There's an interesting combination here of the mint with an apple sweetness. Im not sure it's really working for me. Other than that, there's your basic bourbon notes. Some nice sweet caramel and oak on the nose. The mint on the palate just doesn't blend well, in my opinion. Its off putting. Really sweet finish. I'm disappointed with this one. -
J.T. Meleck Single Barrel Cask Strength
Other Whiskey — Louisiana , USA
Reviewed December 22, 2023 (edited January 28, 2024)Barrel 191 Bottle 90 Proof 122.5 SLB DRINKS selection This bottle is something else. The nose has notes of fudge. Vanilla. Fig. Oatmeal cookie. Sweet and desset like. It continues on the palette. Chocolate and apple. The finish lingers with an almost chocolate syrup quality. It's probably the easiest drinking 122 proof I've ever had. Dangerously good.
