Rittenhouse Rye Bottled in Bond
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 16, 2021 (edited February 2, 2021)Nice rye character. This whiskey is a touch hot, and if you sample first it's very reminiscent of bourbon, but sampling after bourbon you notice how much rye is there. For the price it's not bad, but there are certainly better bottles. -
New Riff 4 Year Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 15, 2020 (edited October 25, 2020)Distilled 4/9/15 bottled 5/13/19. Barrel 15-2701 party source private barrel. 112.5 proof. Some corn and rye in the aroma. Flavor is rye heavy, with oak, and a good amount of heat. With a little water the flavor mellows a little, but the rye character is still present, with a nice spice and vanilla flavor. -
Shackleton Blended Malt
Blended Malt — highlands, Scotland
Reviewed August 13, 2020 (edited July 23, 2022)Not bad for a blender. Interesting character, smooth with notes of short bread, and toasted oak. Perhaps not the greatest scotch in the world, but historically interesting and a good sip.
