Old Forester Single Barrel Bourbon Barrel Strength
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 2, 2023Warehouse H, Floor 2, 124.8 proof Nose- rich cocktail cherries, brown sugar, faintest bit of artificial banana. Lots of ethanol to get past Taste- whooo its hot. Punchy up front with a bit baking spice, molasses and oak. Too much heat to fully enjoy Finish- long with the heat lingering in your throat. Deep red fruits and cinnamon Final Thoughts: it’s bold and some of the flavors show huge promise but the heat is just too much. Even after a year of being open, resting for 30mins, etc., there is too much ethanol to make this great.90.0 USD per Bottle -

This is a single barrel finished in ex-Balcones American oak barrels, age: 56 months, 126 proof Nose- heavy ethanol, burnt sugar, shortbread and pine. But man, is it hard to get past the heavy ethanol Taste- anise, and vegetation notes. Reminds me of a young rye. Musty, unripe corn. Astringent and runs very hot and surprisingly little sweetness for a corn whiskey, let alone one thats double barreled Finish- bitter, astringent and more vegetaal notes
