N- insanely sweet. Maple, butterscotch vanilla icing. Faint mint but overall very little rye characteristics. T- maple brown sugar, rye grain, nutmeg. Reminds me of Waffle Crisp cereal. F- sweet, long finish. Boarder line too sweet at this point with the maple syrup flavor and spice lingering. Overall a solid finished rye that might be a little too sweet by the end of the pour. Nonetheless it’s a delicious dessert whiskey.89.99 USD per Bottle

Nose - mostly ethanol. Some caramel and burnt sugars. Also picking up a grassy note Taste - very light and somewhat musty. Caramel candies. Some cinnamon spice. Very sippable Finish - fairly long finish for a 86 proofer! Subtle caramel and oak flavors linger Very much an easy-sipping sipping bourbon. Doesn’t pack a ton of flavor but doesn’t offend either.23.0 USD per Bottle

Reviewed April 25, 2022 (edited June 25, 2023)Nose- heavy dill. sweet floral notes but not overly minty. Some great rye bread and dough notes as well Taste- spicy, black pepper up front. Some real funky cereal grains (in a good way). More dill Finish- medium finish, more funky rye bread notes If you like funky, musty ryes, this one is great. You still get classic rye notes but this is a unique one worth the pickup!49.99 USD per Bottle -
Pinhook 6 Year Bourbon War Vertical Series
Bourbon — USA
Reviewed April 25, 2022 (edited October 8, 2022)Store pick, 58.9% ABV Nose- lots of sweetness. Butterscotch, caramel and a hint of orange. Really great scents Taste- a bit of a let down from how great the nose was. More caramel, molasses, cinnamon and clove spice. All flavor very faint Finish- medium, weirdly dry finish. Some of that spice lingers along with some toasted notes Overall- amazing nose but the palate is a major let down. Smooth and inoffensive, but underwhelming from a flavor standpoint. I’d expect more at almost 118 proof.64.99 USD per Bottle -
Old Tub Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 4, 2022 (edited July 27, 2022)Nose- loads of peanuts. Vanilla frosting and a faint mint scent. Kind of brash. Taste- Caramel, more peanuts, faint oak, light spice. Black tea note towards the finish. Finish- Thin, short finish and more nutty goodness Thoughts- this is a pleasant sipper and and a banger below $20. Somewhat one dimensional with peanut notes but enjoyable if that’s your thing.17.99 USD per Bottle -
Wild Turkey Rare Breed Barrel Proof Rye
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 8, 2022 (edited March 19, 2022)Nose- subtle mint, faint oak, citrus and lemon zest, sweet nail polish Taste - sweet mint, creamy vanilla, rye spice in the background Finish - medium finish, rye spice coming through and lingering but caramel and sweet mint overpowers Thoughts - this is a fine pour but many of the traditional rye notes are subdued, given it’s only 51% rye. This could be a great option for those branching out from bourbon to rye but IMO, there are better options in this price range.65.0 USD per BottleBinny's Beverage Depot
