Knob Creek 9 Year Single Barrel Reserve
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 2, 2019 (edited January 9, 2020)Single barrel Select by Binnys, barreled 1/20/10 picked 5/24/19. Barrel #9041. Warehouse W-L, floor F-06, Rick R-010. Fruity and just hot enough at 120, I was skeptical they didn’t leave at BP, but this is just right. Blackberries, bramble, Rye spice, creamy, for the money I love it to be frank. Do I like ECBP more, yes, but this to me is akin to the flavor profile but more berries. This bottle will please those who like ice cubes and those who like neat heat alike.45.0 USD per Bottle -
Wow, I really like this. Smooth sweet creme brûlée on the front, dark fruit and leather followed by intense baking spice, cinnamon, vanilla. By far the most complex makers I’ve ever tasted, I will qualify this review and say that I do like cask strength and really like 46, but not enough to buy bottles. This I thought was well worth the money, and offers a unique experience overall.70.0 USD per Bottle

Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 30, 2019 (edited November 3, 2019)Marginally better than small batch, and for the price I’ll take small batch all day long. Heavy on the oak, a tad smoky. A tinge of acetone on the nose and finish that I’m sure will tame itself as I let this bottle sit and breathe. A little fruity and a good amount of leather on the finish. I have a feeling I’ll revisit and like this more, but for all the praise this one gets I’m a bit unimpressed. I will say that some variation is to be expected on the single barrels and my experience may not be indicative of everyone else’s, but frankly for the money there are barrel proof options that blow this out of the water.70.0 USD per Bottle -
Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Barrel Proof Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 19, 2019 (edited April 19, 2020)129.3 proof Vanilla and oak on the nose, oily, sweet, and rich on the palate, finishes about as spicy as GTS, this is very good.21.0 USD per Pour -
Smoky oaky palate, finishes with intense spice and a bit of smoke. FWIW this is a good bottle that’s readily available and packs a punch, but is isn’t something I’d seek out again. I expected something a bit more at this proof, but I just get blasted with spice and each aspect of this does not seem faceted enough for the praise this generally gets from most people.60.0 USD per Bottle

1792 Full Proof Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 18, 2019 (edited July 5, 2019)Binnys 2019 store pick. Comes off very hot out of the bottle but quickly cools off. Once I let it breathe for 5 or so minutes this took a quick turn to vanilla and baking spices. It is still hot but doesn’t drink like it’s 62.5%, and isn’t even close to what the nose lead on at the outset. Coats your mouth on the first sip. Not necessarily an ideal sipper, but damn this is like dessert in a bottle. At this price point I’m not 100% sold, but if I needed something to crack open and came across a store pick again, I think I’d be a buyer.55.0 USD per BottleBinny's Beverage Depot
