Tastes

A little disappointed. Had at McCarran Airport flying home after Thanksgiving 2021. Decent rye, but nothing special of note. Dry and a little bland

Not worth the upcharge. Pretty plain and watery. Had at South Bend Airport on way to Vegas with McKinley

Really nice sweet malt finish.

Upon drinking more of the bottle, the barley taste really starts to grow on me to the point where I can really appreciate the other fruity flavors.

Flaviar full bottle 11/2021. Fantastic - was dreading the barley flavor in most Irish whiskies, but this is quite pleasant! Smells great and tastes sweet - vanilla with hints of dried fruits.

Ok, nothing special. Had at Fat Birds on double date with James Bowyer and Casey. Didn’t impress, but not bad!

Had at Seth’s on guys/poker night (2021). Had it right after Evan Williams Bottled-in-Bond and it tasted very similar, but smoother and less tense. Very sippable!

Flaviar 11/14/21 “C” - [ ] A lot of bubbles persist on pour, guessing about 90-95 proof. Nose is elegant like blade and bow, but softer- fruity, buttery, and nutty. Taste is the nicest, softest, and smoothest of the bunch (grassy, malty, light caramel) but with a pretty long ethanol heat aftertaste with a hint of rye. Body is VERY light and swirls without much resistance. Color is also very light - a pilsner yellow.

Flaviar 11/14/21 “B” - [ ] Poured and a bubble persisted, so likely about 90-99proof. Beautiful nose - ethanol, butterscotch, caramel. Taste is at first AWFUL - (that BARLEY flavor punch that I hate) that slides into caramel and actually a decent, rye slow lingering floral flavor. Body is light-medium. Too much barley for me to buy again.

Flaviar 11/14/21 “A” Smells almost as good as blade and bow - fruity, buttery, and nutty. Almost like a single malt, taste at first is a bit thin and leathery and kind of nutty caramel that fades quickly, followed by a lingering taste of all ethanol heat. A drop of water helps accentuate the nutty, dry fruit flavors and kill the afterburn. Oils kind of coat the inside of my mouth as I sip it. Body is light-medium. Tastes like a lot of barley. Decent, not one I would buy.
