Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 16, 2024 (edited April 28, 2024)Very fine bourbon from Buffalo Trace, and IMO if ranks after Eagle Rare and before Blantons. Smooth and easy to drink with an ice cube. Difficult to find and hope to run across it again soon. -
Belvedere Single Estate Rye: Lake Bartężek
Unflavored Vodka — Poland
Reviewed June 6, 2023 (edited June 24, 2023)Taste is well above average. Nose is a bit heavy for 80 prooff. Super easy to sip neat and enjoy, but my preference is 1:1 with topo chico with a shaved lemon rind and ice. -
Somewhat unremarkable nose, fairly smooth ie weak, slightly peppery yet mostly sweet, mixed with black licorice?, short finish. Not “the” bourbon to order neat, but it’s simplicity is appealing as a mixer and makes a decent “house” (getcatchaby) old fashioned or jim & ginger. Might be good to have on hand if going low key and wanna save $. BTW-I haven’t had Jim Beam white in 20+/-years, sampled it tonight with Bulliet bourbon and it stood up and made me notice-especially now that bourbons are becoming more scarce and therefore pricey.

Maker's Mark Private Selection - Bill Jr's 46 Cask - Spec's (2020)
Bourbon — USA
Reviewed May 28, 2022Bill Jr’s August 2021 vintage is 108.4 proof, has a nice nose, long legs, and a finish that goes the distance. I’m impressed with how smooth the flavors come across in this cask strength Spec’s private selection. -
I could drink this straight or on ice all night long. Smooth, rich, and balanced between earthy and fruity, with very little pepper flavor. Surprised a tequila this nice isn’t harder to find or more expense. Good as a ranch water but not as good as a peppery Hornitos silver in a marg or paloma cocktail.
