Like the peppery palette and mix of fruity, oily, rich and smooth flavoring. The finish is nice and short. Not as smooth straight up as El Jimador Blanco, but Hornitos is like using a higher rye bourbon-makes a better cocktail! Sure Weller is smoother straight up but Bulleit makes a better old fashioned.

Bulleit Bourbon Barrel Strength
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 8, 2022 (edited April 18, 2024)Bold 100+ proof is peppery and rich, has buttery legs if swirled and a longish finish that is real smooth with ice or water. Sips well around the campfire just like all other Bulleit bourbons. Like the Weller influence -
Infusing a toasted oak spiral in the bottle seems way more appealing than a worm in tequila. Don’t really smelling the oak but has a subdued oak favor that is a bit overwhelmed by heat that burns going down the hatch. IMO Woodford Double Oaked is better. However, I like the idea and plan to buy oak spirals to experiment with other bottles.

Hornitos Black Barrel Tequila
Tequila Añejo — Tequila Valley, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed February 12, 2022Might be made for bourbon drinkers. Doesn’t taste like bourbon or anejo but has characteristics of both. Like it with a cube. And should buy it more often. -
