West Cork 8 Year Small Batch Single Malt
Single Malt — Ireland
Reviewed February 15, 2021 (edited March 31, 2021)A classic, smooth Irish whisky. On the nose I get malt, ripe apple fruit, and a hint of like citrus. The malt comes through on the taste along with smooth green flavors. Not too interesting, but very approachable and easy to sip. -
Im not too hot on this one, it feels a bit off. The nose is mostly just the smell of alcohol, with little defining characteristics. The taste is definitely of a rye taste, but it feels unbalanced and harsh as the spice from the rye overpowers the sweeter vanilla taste that feels out of place. The sweeter taste definitely comes through in the finish, but the sweet taste quickly disappears and leaves behind a coating feeling in the mouth. I'll pass.

Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 29, 2020 (edited March 8, 2020)This is an ideal sipping whiskey. The nose has a bit of oakiness and sweet vanilla. For the taste, you definitely get a bit of nutty vanilla and a good amount of heat, as the rye kicks through. Low price point, solid quality. -
Bird Dog Small Batch Bourbon (Treeing Walker Coonhound)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 16, 2020This one wasn't great, there are far better options for a lower price. On the nose, it mostly smells like young greens with a faint hint of a sweet corn. The taste is odd. It's definitely peppery, but every other flavor seems muddled. You can definitely do better than this.
