Woodford Reserve Master's Collection Sonoma-Cutrer Pinot Noir Finish
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 2, 2019Pleasant smell. Light spicy bourbon. Sip 1: interesting. Full entry, mid-pallet screams “aged in wine barrels” (strong fermented grape flavor), peanuts on the end. More spicy finish than I expected. Aftertaste is Pinot Noir and peanuts. Sip 2: more of the same. I’m going to finish this one, but I wouldn’t do it again. -
2010 vintage. Very mellow smell. Nothing specific I can detect, but pleasant. Sip 1: small entry with fruity notes. Full green plant flavor in the middle, bold peanut flavor on the back end. Finish is long, slightly warm, and all peanut flavor. I don’t like peanut flavor in my bourbon, so it’s not for me. If you like peanuts, this is a unique choice. Sip 2 was identical.

James E. Pepper 1776 Straight Bourbon (100 Proof) Beige Label
Bourbon — Indiana (bottled in Kentucky), USA
Reviewed December 16, 2018Yum! Smooth vanilla. -
Pine on the nose. Maybe a bit of butterscotch down deep. Interesting. Lots of flavors, none of them bold. Peanuts, sweet on the lips. Lots and lots of peanut aftertaste. Smooth and mellow. It’s not my choice of flavors, but it’s not bad in any way. Probably wouldn’t do again if there were choices, but might do if it’s all that was available.
