Tastes

Begins with a nice expression of the sweet side of the JD profile (banana, maple), continues to a creamy marshmallow, and then sorta fades into nothing. So while it’s less vegetal than the No. 7 and it’s “smooth”, it’s missing the corn and rye notes to give it more backbone.

Nose: carmel corn, banana, vanilla, candied nuts, leather, spice, char. Taste: vanilla, spice, oak, char, dried fruit, maple, buttered toast, with more char and rye spice on the finish.

Sweet toasted oak with quite a bit of maraschino cherry notes.

Nose: citrusy peat and smoke, dried fruits, iodine, clove, and ginger. Taste: Nice long development. Smooth smoky salted grains with notes of sherried dark dried fruits, iodine, leather, and ginger. The smoke intensifies until the finish, which is of iodine, herbal mint, and an earthy dark chocolate.

Nose: dried dark fruits like figs and raisins, vanilla, sherry, cough syrup, some form of honey, a slight mustiness, charred oak, melon, spice Taste: vanilla, brown sugar, sweet grains, dark fruits, dry sherry, a touch of citrus, black tea, and white pepper.
