Knob Creek Rye Single Barrel Select
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 22, 2023 (edited October 3, 2023)Buy rite liquors selection A week shy of 6 years old Warehouse Q, Floor 4, Rick 47 Nose: brown sugar, peanuts, butterscotch Palate: rye spice kick, molasses Finish: fairly long, caramel, extra punch of rye spice Well rounded rye with a big spice kick without venturing into the dill/eucalyptus side of rye (which isn’t my favorite). -
Nose: cherries, caramel, earthy smoke, orange peel, ocean spray Palate: spice cake, orange, light smoke Finish: barrel char, peat, sherry This is good but a bit all over the place. The nose is the highlight. Palate is a bit simple by comparison but the mouthfeel is somewhat viscous. The finish is nice. Reminds me a lot of the BenRiach Smoky Twelve.

Laphroaig Cairdeas 2022 Warehouse 1
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed January 29, 2023 (edited August 26, 2023)Nose is typical Laphroaig. Palate is more oaky than the 10 year, perhaps a bit less medicinal and more herbal/vegetal peat. Finish is a bit short. Overall it’s good but not great. -
