Deanston 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed December 6, 2021 (edited April 13, 2022)Honeysuckle and ripe apple smell. Golden color, thick, coating the glass and with very slow legs. Tastes of honey and orange rind, then light smoke, and a pleasant hot finish. -
Smells of pine and paint thinner. Golden color, coating the glass, with very slow legs. Hot on the palate, with tastes of wood and leather hiding somewhere behind the harshness. A splash of water doesn't do it any favors, just bringing out earthy mid-tones that don't excite me. I keep wanting to like ryes, but I guess I'm just not there yet.
