Peerless Double Oak Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 16, 2021 (edited December 12, 2022)Super warm and rich. Like brown sugar, oak, chocolate, spice. Probably one of the only “double Oaked” expressions I like. It’s sweet without being overt. Very impressed. -
Hughes Belle of Bedford
Rye — Proofed Pennsylvania, distilled Indiana, USA
Reviewed December 12, 2021For me, I get a note that is almostly purely bread and butter pickle. Super easy - just enough complexity. -
Joseph Magnus Cigar Blend Bourbon batch 64
Bourbon — USA
Reviewed December 12, 2021 (edited October 7, 2022)Super complex and unique. First, this does not drink like 130. If you told me it was 110 I’d be surprised it was that high. Spice amplifies fruit, butter, toffee, subtle nut. Literally mouth-watering. I do get a mild minerality, but nothing crazy. -
Boone County Kentucky Pot Still Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 10, 2021 (edited December 23, 2021)Alright, so from this I get a lot of grain. Nose, palate, finish. Cornmeal, maybe buttered toast, oatmeal. A lot of characteristics you typically get from a “young” whiskey. But that’s fresh out of the bottle. As it’s sitting here, I taste it opening a bit more. Has a profile that reminds me a bit of watershed, which might be the youth. For $55, I’d probably save my cash, but it’s not bad and the bottle feels hefty in hand, so at the very least would make it useful for home defense in a pinch. -
Stagg Jr Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch 16
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 24, 2021 (edited February 9, 2022)It’s good, but I don’t know if it’s my favorite. I don’t get a lot of sweet notes, but deeper ones. Like dark chocolate, maybe a bit of nut - I’m thinking an almond covered in cacao. I actually ate one and it complemented this well. It’s a good one, just maybe a bit underwhelming for the name. -
W.B. Saffell Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 20, 2021 (edited February 24, 2022)Pleasant flavor, but mild. Tastes like a wild Turkey product, or maybe a watered down Bookers. Peanut butter is a note I definitely pick up. -
Wild Turkey Forgiven
Blended American Whiskey — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 17, 2021 (edited June 19, 2022)Batch 303. Almost like a vitamin, but light and sweet. Berries and cream. One to hold onto. -
Jameson Bow Street 18 Year Cask Strength (Batch Two)
Blended — Ireland
Reviewed November 15, 2021 (edited December 11, 2021)It’s good, but it has a bit of alcohol astringency that sticks out like vodka to me. There is some Sherry fruitiness - it’s dry and pervasive. The longer you let it sit in your mouth, the better it is.
