I know you shouldn’t factor price into a review, but when you ask ~$120 for a bottle, you open yourself up for additional assessment. This whiskey is good. It’s slightly herbal with a creamy texture. It is slightly cloying on the palate. A little spicy apricot presence too. With all that being said, it shouldn’t be $120. I know the brand is riding the coattails of its fabled success, but the stuff is not up to the same par. I liked Confiscated more than this, and that is also notoriously overpriced. Save your cash.

Stagg Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch 18
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 7, 2023 (edited May 29, 2023)Nose: A panoply of berries, stone fruit, and melon. A couple light earthy notes. Palate: Wave of grape flavor ice. Strawberries. French toast with icing. Decadent. Finish: Cinnamon. Red hots. Baking spices and brown sugar. Still some fruit influence. Its awesome. It sometimes sucks when a bottle lives up to the hype, but these always do it. I’s grab this sub $200 and feel totally fine about it. It is a special bottle. -
High Bank Whiskey War Double Double
Other Whiskey — Ohio, USA
Reviewed March 14, 2023 (edited August 12, 2024)I believe Batch 2. Nose: dark wood shavings, dark fruit, caramel Palate: tons of sweet oak influence. Thick and chewable. Subtle dark fruit. Finish: a slightly different wood flavor comes through. Almost like going from a cherry or mohagony into a hickory. If i said “wood” a lot here, thats because that’s what this tastes like. If you could turn wood into a liquid and then drink off a wood luge, it would be a similar experience to this. With that being said, its actually pretty good. Would i pay $100 (MSRP) for it? Nah. -
