Batch 10, 54% ABV, aged 26 months Do you like MGP Ryes? If so, check this one out. I liked it best in an old fashioned with fresh dill. It’s decent neat, but a bit hot. Nose: cardamom, dill, sugar, mint, fresh cut grass. Definitely some ethanol. Straightforward young MGP rye. Palate: average to thin mouthfeel. Notes of mint, black pepper, light brown sugar. Lots of dill character with quite a bit of heat. The finish is short and a bit sour and bitter with lingering mint aftertaste.

New Riff 4 Year Single Barrel Rye
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 14, 2021 (edited April 13, 2021)So torn about this. It’s a very high quality rye and a rye purist’s rye. Nose is light, perfume, and mint. It’s clean and fresh with some hint of raw cane sugar. Palate has a medium mouthfeel with rye, rye, RYE. Arrival is sweet mint with a hint of baking spice. Development absolutely overwhelms the senses with hot pepper heat. For me, it’s a one dimensional kick you in the face spice that just isn’t my favorite in a rye. If you like spicy food or are interested in what a pure rye mashbill tastes like, then give it a try as this is a well crafted example. Finish is slightly bitter and sour with a hint of oak that fades quickly. Personally, I recommend the Willet Family Estate Rye instead as a bit more to explore on the nose and palate. -
