Kilkerran 12 Year
Single Malt — Campbeltown, Scotland
Reviewed December 3, 2020 (edited March 19, 2021)I give it a 5 because it’s just so unique and lovely. The scent is interesting, it’s salty and sweet, creamy, cheesy, and delicious. It’s not quite funky but it’s balanced and delicious. Peat and smoke are there but they are not in the forefront. As time goes, the creamy sweet dessert comes through. The taste is also complex and fun, I taste both sweet and salty, and elegantly peaty and meaty. I think this is a very delicious whisky to be enjoyed with a meal. For those who like meat dishes and creamy desserts, you can get both in the same bottle. Such unique flavor. Wonderful find!73.67 USD per Bottle -
GlenAllachie 12 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed December 3, 2020 (edited March 19, 2021)One this is so delicious! So sweet, creamy, aromatic, and complex! The mouth feel is consistent with the nose, which is great. I loved the nose with all the winter festival notes of sweet deserts, dry fruits, cinnamon, spice, and with a hint of salty caramel to balance it out. The mouth is great too, super sweet and a bit tart for fun, but not cloying, layers, flavor for fruit and dessert. The oiliness is great also. Love everything about this, for special occasion and one of those days you need something special. Ohh did I mention how pretty the bottle and the color is?57.88 USD per Bottle -
Highland Park 12 Year
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed December 1, 2020 (edited March 19, 2021)This is a good whisky, def not sweet (not on the scent), very dry sherry with leather, smoke and a hint of peat. The taste is sweeter than the smell, but still on the dry side, with peat that comes and goes and smoke that comes and goes. I would say this is a good introduction whisky for people to experience flavor profiles. I will go back to it and see if things change.43.99 USD per Bottle -
The Glenrothes 12 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed November 30, 2020 (edited March 19, 2021)Delicious sherry bomb with all of the beautiful things that a sherry cask can offer. Amazing! -
Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed November 30, 2020 (edited March 19, 2021)This is a decent Glenmorangie, I thought I would like it more but somehow I didn’t. I feel that port flavor somehow doesn’t go too well with the bourbon, at least on the sample I have. It’s still very good, sweet, fragrant and delicious, but again, not my fav Glenmorangie. -
Glenmorangie Lasanta Sherry Cask Finish 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed November 30, 2020 (edited March 19, 2021)I really wanted to like this one. Sherry finish of a lovely bourbon whisky, what could go wrong? But there is something off with this, the sherry flavor is not strong enough, it’s very dry and not even sweet. The flavor is also quite dry, and not as delicious tasting as other glenmorangie that I had. I will give it a try again later. -
Balvenie DoubleWood 17 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed November 30, 2020 (edited March 19, 2021)This is a Balvenie so it’s great. But, surprisingly, I didn’t like it as much as the 12yr, I thought the nice flavors are too toned down for excitement. But still a great Balvenie. -
Balvenie Caribbean Cask 14 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed November 30, 2020 (edited March 19, 2021)This is another excellent Balvenie! So sweet and creamy from the scent of rum, and it’s smooth, delicate to the taste while sufficiently sweet. The finish is wonderful with some extra rum flavor to it. Wonderful and top shelf whisky! -
Cragganmore 12 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed November 30, 2020 (edited March 19, 2021)I’m not sure how I feel about this whisky. It’s good, very smooth, but it’s very bland for me. It’s a bit Smokey’s do peaty, not much. Flavor is pretty balanced, but it wasn’t too exciting. I will give it a try again later. -
This is interesting. Quite peaty for me, in fact it smells more like link than talisker 10 peat, which was more smoke. It’s again not unpleasant. It’s also quite sweet, no alcohol smell which is great. Underneath I can get some fruity and floral. It’s really smooth drinking, sweet enough, fragrant enough with some nice creamy taste to it. Peat oddly isn’t as detectable as you drink it. But aftertaste it’s definitely there, almost a feet scent but not in a disguising way. Overall a very nice whisky. It takes some time to get use to.
