Malted rye is supposed to be less spicy and gentler compared a regular rye whiskey, but this whiskey is pretty hot. With this one there is a lot of ethanol on the nose and taste is still pretty youthful with fresh grain and mild oak being the main flavors. Fun to try something different, but not the most well rounded whiskey.

I'm pretty impressed with this bourbon and it is the first barrel proof that I've had from Larceny. In some strange way the nose reminds me of bookers a little bit. Besides that vanilla, cinnamon and pepper spice know you in the face; it's pretty bold! On the palate it has a soft mouthfeel and the oak comes in strong with dark chocolate and a nuttiness flavor. Caramel is at the end with nice oak flavors fading off into the sunset.

Glenmorangie Signet
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed November 20, 2021 (edited November 21, 2021)Sweet oak and fruit and butterscotch on the nose. The chocolate malted notes are strong on the the palate and the finish is gentle with a nice barrel spice that sticks around for quite awhile. Haven’t had a scotch like this before. -

Peerless Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 25, 2021 (edited February 3, 2022)Did a tasting at their distillery last week in Louisville and there straight bourbon was one of those whiskies I tried. I was impressed with the flavor profile and it has a lot of that same spice you get from their small batch rye whiskey. because they put their bourbon and rye in the barrel at a lower proof, it brings out a lot more flavors that can get missed when adding water before bottling. this definitely helps when your products are only about 4-5 years old.
