Kirkland 24 Year Speyside Sherry Cask Finish
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed January 13, 2024 (edited January 15, 2024)Nose: rich deep flavors, oakiness that I love. Fruit, raisins and malt in the breakground. Great start to the pour. Palate: Right off the bat i get roasted nuts like cashews and a bit a savory notes. Finishin: Is a little muted, but i get some maraschino cherries and plum. This is a really surprising scotch because i was expecting to get strong sherry influences like the other kirkland speyside scotches if had in the past, but for me, this whisky really falls in the more savory side. The nose is the best part of the experience.80.0 USD per Bottle -
Little Book Chapter 5: The Invitation
Blended American Whiskey — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 20, 2023 (edited June 19, 2024)The nose comes off very much like a jim beam whiskey. Oak, nuts and a little mint. Palate: Right away the burn is very manageable for a almost 60% abv and i get some youthfulness as well. Very dry and not all that sweet. Finish: finally some nice charred oak from the older barrels in this blend with bitter cherry flavors that continue towards the end of the sip and the spiciness only comes around at the finish. After a few sips I have to say this is my least favorite Little Books of the five I have tried so far. Not very complex and it has astringent notes on the finish that are kind of off putting that I think come from the malted rye of the blend. After every sip, I keep lowering the score on this bottle. Lets revisit this in a few months to see if my tastebuds are more forgiving.100.0 USD per Bottle -
Old Carter American Whiskey Batch 10
Blended American Whiskey — USA
Reviewed November 24, 2023 (edited November 29, 2023)The nose is similiar to the other american whiskies I’ve tried. Burnt popcorn kernels, little ethonal and some sweetness I can’t quite put my finger on. The palate is dry, with vanilla cream sweetness. It took a couple sips, but finally grew on me. The finish is pretty long, really manageable burn at 131 proof with a lot of oak flavors which makes it the best part of the pour. So I have tried a handful of american whiskies amd i have not been mich of a fan. Old Carter does step it up quite a bit, bit at the end of the day ot just isnt my style. It reminds me of Irish whiskies in some strange way that just doesnt usually agree with me. I can see how a lot of people can enjoy this style of whiskey, but for me it doesn’t give me the same satisfaction as bourbon or rye. -
High West A Midwinter Night's Dram Act 10 (All Scenes)
Rye — USA
Reviewed November 23, 2023 (edited November 25, 2023)Nose: Chared oak soice with dark fruit aromas. Really nice. Palate: the rye spice is front and center, coming in strong to make sure the sweet port finish does not overpower the pour. Dark fruits and berries are the main flavors. Finish: dry oak spice with medium fruity finish woth a little astringent taste at the end. Overall, perfect for after Thanksgiving pour.150.0 USD per Bottle -

Finish: Is long lasting, dry oak more earthy grassy flavors are in the backend of the sip. Solid rye whiskey that has a heavier rye spice then other Kentucky ryes.60.0 USD per Bottle -
Redbreast Lustau Edition
Single Pot Still — Ireland
Reviewed October 30, 2023 (edited November 2, 2023)never been a big fan of Irish whiskey and always thought the redbreast 12 year was "ok". Trying the Lustau bottle is a nice step up from the flagship offering. Nice delicate oak and sweetness on the noise. Having the finishing barrel softens and smooths out the edges of the grain forward flavors you get from a number of Irish whiskies. -
Bull Run American Whiskey 14 year Cabernet Cask
Other Whiskey — Oregon , USA
Reviewed September 16, 2023 (edited September 17, 2023)The nose gives the american whiskey away at first sniff. Smells like other light whiskies ive tried before. Burnt corn, strong oak and a vanilla sweetness. The sweetness probably Comes from the Cabernet cask finish, bit does not smell fruity in my opinion. The typical light flavors come in of vanilla and a creme brûlée taste, but adding a depth to it from the cask finish really helps elevate the american whiskey flavor. The finish has blue berries, black berries and whatever type of grape or berry flavor you want to add here. Overall, im not much of a fan of american whiskies evem though I want to since you can get high age stated light whiskies for a reasonable price. I say this whiskey is pretty one dimensional but…… the wine finish does help it quite a bit.70.0 USD per Bottle
