Bomberger's Declaration (2021 Release)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 31, 2023 (edited November 1, 2023)Nose: burnt oak and chared brown sugar. You dig a lottle more and you get spme caramel aromas. Palate: first sip was a bit disappointing with a thin mouth feel for 108 proof, but after a couple more sips the rich oak flavors and fuity notes come out Finish: sweet mellowing finish where the oak continues all the way through. Hint of caramel comes back in at the end. Im a big oak fan and this bourbon has really nice oak from the nose all the way to the finish.100.0 USD per Bottle -
The nose at first reminded me of Japanese whiskies, bit then it hit me. What it really reminds me of is high aged corn whiskies from Canada. Kind of a burnt grain aroma. The palate is soft and gentle with a creamy texture. Pretty balanced and delicate. The finish does slowly bring in a spicy bite to it with oaky vanilla flavors slowly fading for a relatively long finish.

Reviewed July 15, 2023 (edited October 24, 2023)Strong smells a charred barrels, fig and grape. Really nice way to start things off. Velvety texture orange peel, rich flavors or dark fruits and oak on palate. The finish is long with burnt caramel and vanilla. Slight sticky mouth feel, but overall very nice barrel finished bourbon. -
Glenfarclas 105 Cask Strength
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed July 3, 2023 (edited October 6, 2023)The nose has honey and butterscotch. Relatively mild for 60% abv creamy texture and burnt char oak and not very sweet but has caramel and vanilla flavors. The finish is long with sourdough flavors and chocolate malts. -
The nose is more enticing than the oroginal bottle which is finished in cedar cask for less time. Strong scents of vibrant oak, orange zest and honey. The pallate comes in hot and strong even for 48%. The oak os overbearing with citrus flavors. The finish is astringent and botter from the strong cedar casks and sails off in the sunset woth some vanillas flavors. This is a bit of a messy dram that is a roller coaster of a ride. There is probably a readon why cedar isnt used very often to age spirits.
