The nose has gentle oak scents with vanilla in the background along with raspberries and strawberry. Vanilla kicks back in on the pallate as some of the dark fruits notes come in. Not overpowering at all for a finishing whiskey. Medium finish that brings out orange zest and caramel. Pretty enjoyable for the price and finished in brandy barrels.

The nose has a sweet rye grain scents with oak and vegetal smell probably from the teauila finish. Thos is a hot whoskey, more so than most others even at this high abv. I usually dont add water bit on this one o really needed to even though it didn’t help much. When i addad a few drops of water the tequila finish was more pronounced becoming noticeable on the finish. Pretty interesting whiskey, bit not one im going to be reaching for very often. Its more fun to know what a rye whiskey foniahed in tequila barrels tastes like.

Reviewed January 18, 2023 (edited February 17, 2023)Nose is fruity with the malt grain aromas. The mouth feel is silky smooth and heavier then what you’d expect from 40 abv. Vanilla and caramel are the main flavors. Dry finish and a touch of bourbon oak spiciness. -
Old Charter Oak Canadian Oak (2019 Release)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 3, 2023 (edited January 4, 2023)this is a very unique whiskey. The nose has light oak, fluffy waffles and fruit. The palate is where it gets really interesting. the mouth texture is so creamy and butterscotch! sooo much butterscotch and vanilla. finishes nicely with long soft finish as the oak becomes a little more prominent. The Canadian oak barrels really transform the base whiskey in a great way.20.0 USD per Pour -
High West A Midwinter Night's Dram Act 9 (All Scenes)
Rye — (bottled in) Utah, USA
Reviewed December 25, 2022 (edited December 27, 2022)I did a blind tasting between this act and my bottle of act 7. Act 7 was more subtle and subdued when it came to the port finish, it came in strongest during the tale end of the finish. Act 9, the nose had a more pronounced wine scent, ethanol and blackberries. The palate starts with a nice sweet mouthfeel and vanilla. The finish because relatively quickly with a lot of cinnamon spice and oak. Between 7 and 9, I prefer 9 mostly because it had more depth to it with more flavors and different mouthfeel than act 7. Both very nice in their own ways.
