George T. Stagg Bourbon (Fall 2020)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 12, 2022 (edited December 20, 2022)A whiff of light, caramel and meaty aromas. Caramel continues with vanilla, cherries Tobacco smoke that you get with well aged bourbons. The finish is fantastic. Slight dry (in a good way) oak and extremely long. You still taste this bourbon minutes after you had a sip. It drinks exactly like a 65 abv whiskey. Bold, rich and a little hot. Not for the faint of heart. -
Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch B520
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 3, 2022 (edited December 6, 2022)Vanilla bean and burnt oak char on the nose. The palate is bursting with flavors of apple pie, caramel candies and spices. The finish is just as big and long. This is definitely 63% abv and the oak is more forward than other Elijah Craig barrel proof batches I’ve had in the past. This one stands out nicely. -

Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Barrel Proof Rye (2020 Special Release)
Rye — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed November 25, 2022 (edited November 27, 2022)First time trying the infamous rye and it lived up to all the excite about this release. The bottle I had was 131 proof and drank lower than that high proof. Sweet, balanced with just enough rye spice to give it a bit of a punch. -
Doc Swinson's Alter Ego Single Barrel Select Straight Rye Whiskey Finished in Rum Casks
Rye — USA
Reviewed October 29, 2022 (edited September 21, 2023)Floral nose with small amount of rye grain. You need to dig deep to get a lot of scents. From the nose you don’t really smell the rum influence. On the palate there is some charred oak and really not a heavy rum influence at all, must not have been finished rum barrels for much time. Short earthy finish. Relatively one dimensional. -
John J Bowman Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Virginia, USA
Reviewed October 29, 2022 (edited December 4, 2022)Nice oak on the nose and caramel. Oak continues on the palate with dark rich notes of orange and cherries. On the back end vanilla frosting and vanilla extract finish things off. 50% works well for this bourbon and is well balanced without too much heat.
