This has a lot of wonderful vanilla and oak aromas. Also some caramel and maybe a hint of orange. Rich flavors or vanilla and caramel too. Sweet but not by a lot. Paired well with a rare steak. But then again, most things do.

Tried it neat and then used it to make an Old Fashioned. I liked both. As a neat dram it had that bourbon sweetness with hints of caramel and orange. The spicy rye comes through too. It makes a good Old Fashioned too. The sugar and dilution from the ice bring out the sweetness of the bourbon. Pairs well with the Orange twist. I recommend two things if you can acquire them. Fee Bros Black Walnut bitters and a Luxardo Cherry.

I have to say, I like this a lot. For the money, I think it’s a great bargain and has reminded me that price doesn’t necessarily equal quality. While there’s a pretty aggressive burn at the front end, there is also a significant sweetness and, yes, corn flavors.

Sampled June 8, 2016 A little spicy and sweet at the same time. Floral and caramel aromas. Caramel and toffee flavors. Really smooth. I'm normally a Scotch drinker when it comes to whiskey but I wanted to try something a little different. I was impressed by how well this lines up with a good Highland or Speyside offering. I'd certainly try this again and think it's worth your time.

Smells of the sea ... In a good way. Aromas are very similar to an Islay even though this hails from Skye. Much less aggressive in its peatiness than Lagavulin or Laphroaig. I found it  earthy but not very smoky. Roll it around to experience some caramel, honey, orange. It finishes with a slight sting but overall pretty smooth.

This bottle was a gift from some really great people. Thank you so much. Your generosity means a lot to me.  This dram is probably as high of the high end stuff as Guy like me is likely to encounter. That said, the Macallan 18 is plenty inviting. Gentle aromas of coffee, toffee, orange peel, and the vaguest hint of camphor. It tastes very smooth of the same. Almost no burn on the back end.  I felt bad adding water drops to my first sampling so the second and third (upon which this note is based) had none.
