Tastes

Earthy. Oak and rye. Very dry.

Cherry. Oak. Barley. Faint cinnamon. Very strong. Needs water. Kind of one dimensional and spicy. I tend to prefer rye but in this case I enjoyed the Rare Breed bourbon more than the Rare Breed rye.

Herbal. Floral. Dill. Young. So mellow and so smooth. Just the right amount of sweetness. Very good rye finish.

Dill pickle. Intensely herbal. Cloves. Anise. Very hot even for 114.4 proof. Bandaid and sweetness late in the finish. I'm into MGP rye and rye whiskey in general but this didn't resonate with me. UPDATE: Original review 3.5 stars on 4/15/19. Revisited on 8/13/22.

Maple syrup. The smell is incredible. A solid rye and the rum cask just puts it over the top.

It's interesting and unique. Thick and chewy mouthfeel. The smell is wonderful and complex. Taste is wine forward with notes of oxidization. Taste is dry and smoky. The rye whiskey comes through in the finish. I didn't love this when I first opened it but revisiting it after some time I have decided to increase my score slightly.

Light and smooth. Sweetness with a faint vanilla. I like a little more kick from a rye and a higher proof. 375ml

Very mellow tasting. Still has some bite. Not worth the price though.

Cinnamon. Fireball candy. Classic and simple. Good mouthfeel. Excellent value. Perfect whiskey for a flask.

Herbal. Dill pickle. Floral. A bit gin like. Very light. Somewhat better after giving it some time to open up but I'm still not really into this.
