Would never have guessed this was only distilled once. Fuyu persimmons, vanilla custard, oak spice, biscuits, vegetative, candied lime peels, butterscotch, peppermint, some astringency, nutmeg, raw mash, cocoa nibs, cinnamon, red grape, smoky, red plum, deep sweetness. Unfortunate grain bitterness holds it back. Saturated with madeira oak. Impressive single malt from outside japan & scotland.60.0 USD per Bottle

Belle Meade Sour Mash Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Indiana (bottled in Tennessee), USA
Reviewed May 5, 2024Not too many of these left on the shelves after the label appears long discontinued. Leathery, dutch cocoa, fruity coffee beans, muddled mint, grassy rye, creamy grits, oaky, nutmeg, coconut, toffee, vanilla meringues, bit of candied orange peel. Reminds me of Colonel Taylor. Though this particular palate does appear in the wild turkey lineup per my last review, particularly the coconut.50.0 USD per Bottle -
Bears no resemblance to their previous belle meade label. Stewed cherries, grassy rye, nutty barley grain, red plums, dark raisin, vanilla beans, bitter lemon rind, chinese cinnamon, burnt sugars, gala apple, youthful but not young wood tannins, clove, charcoal smokiness, cacoa butter. Decent but doesn't match the level of belle meade sherry cask.

Bunnahabhain An Cladach
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed January 24, 2024 (edited February 17, 2024)Sea salt & minerals, toasted almonds, prunes, raisins, clove, thin english custard, biscoff, some graininess, nutty, toffee, cocoa, lemon curd. Much stronger sherry influence than the standard which I believe is bourbon cask only, but I think it loses a little with NAS. Still, its vibrant and you cant beat the cost especially considering it's a liter and 100 proof.60.0 USD per Bottle -
Bitter sea brine, faux vanilla syrup, some yellow pear with very little of its juiciness, oak peppery, buttery, cheap honeycrisp apple, unripe strawberry jam, quite smoky, a bit of charcoal, liquid caramel, some butteriness, hint of allspice, corriander, creamy barley nuttiness almost like creamed corn, herbal. Defintely not the talisker of yesteryear but still fine. The proof gave it a boost even if the years did not. A nice taste of orchard fruits.70.0 USD per Bottle

Corsair Triple Smoke American Single Malt
American Single Malt — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed November 4, 2023Batch 217, no. 169/687, picked up from distillery roundabout 2015. Smells like real barbecue. Fine cherry woodsmoke, dark chocolate & nibs which I'm guessing is american peat, damp, buttery and full flavored, cream soda, baking spices, nutty, deeply sweet. A bit too watered down. Still impressive considering the age. The oak was not bitter at all. -
Nelson Brothers Reserve Bourbon
Bourbon — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed October 22, 2023 (edited October 27, 2023)Overly sweet candy corn, fruit chews, heavy oak, maraschino cherry, charred marshmallow, butterscotch, nutty, heather honey, sawdust, ruby chocolate. Nicely aged. Didn't explicity say where it's distilled, just bottled in Nashville. Candy corn leads me to think it's Dickel. If so, it has come a long way but still has that unfortunate gummy vitamin aftertaste. Would recommend Joseph Magnus. Oxidized well, showing more of a herbal mint quality and burnt sugars. Surely MGP sourced, at least to some proportion if not entirely.60.0 USD per Bottle
