Jim Beam Single Barrel Bourbon (95 Proof)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 26, 2015 (edited September 1, 2015)Wow, this is a keeper. Too bad it has the Beam name on it, it's close to perfect. Wonderful mild vanilla and oak nose. The vanilla and almond undertones pervade from start to finish, and the finish has almost a marzipan quality. Really tasty. I'll be coming back! -
Michter's US*1 Toasted Barrel Finish Bourbon (2014 Release)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 25, 2015Wow, tons of bananas from the moment I poured it. Good bourbon, not too sweet and full of flavor, but you better like banana -
Macallan 12 Year Sherry Oak Cask
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed January 8, 2015 (edited April 17, 2015)Call me crazy, but I love scotch and just can't get into macallan. The texture is perfect - very smooth with a hint of spice, which makes it great for newbies and non-scotchophiles. But, let's be honest - it's bland! I don't want to work so hard to get flavor out of my scotch. Would go for highland park 12 or talisker 10 for a superior scotch at this price. -
Highland Park 12 Year
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed December 26, 2014 (edited April 24, 2018)Personal preference here, but far too grassy for me. It has an almost perfumy nose that carries through on the palate and it's missing some of the fruit and peat to balance it out. Ok but not a go-to. -
TINCUP American Whiskey
Other Whiskey — Indiana (bottled in Colorado), USA
Reviewed December 23, 2014 (edited March 10, 2015)Great whiskey for the price. Smooth and easy drinking. Certainly not the most complex or sophisticated whiskey in the world but I enjoy it while just hanging out when I don't want to drink the expensive stuff.
