Whistlepig 10 Year Small Batch Rye
Rye — (bottled in) Vermont, Canada
Reviewed December 4, 2023 (edited March 26, 2024)If you've enjoyed the Cask strength Alberta premium rye, you'll find this more approachable. Herbaceous and caramel sweet, this one delivers a great rye expression for a decent price.90.0 USD per BottleLas Vegas Convention Center, North Hall -
Mezcal Los Siete Misterios Doba-Yej
Mezcal Joven — Oaxaca, Mexico
Reviewed August 24, 2020 (edited June 8, 2021)A great option for introducing mezcal to someone. Sweet notes of vanilla bean, succulents, and dried grass. My bottle is from Maestro Santiago Matatlán and features an approachable smokiness. For the price in CAD, I'd grab a bottle for something entry level that's a refined expression via the copper pot usage but it lacks character for that same reason.65.0 CAD per Bottle -

WhistlePig Old World Series Madeira Finish 12 Year
Rye — Indiana (bottled in Vermont), USA
Reviewed March 6, 2020Initial nosing of dill pickle potato chips, opens into more raisinated flavours from the Madeira. Mouth feel is oily and full with sweet fruit blending then into a spice of clove, brown sugar and an aftertaste of botrytis influenced grape. One of the most complex rye whiskies I've ever had -
Mezcal Agua Santa Karwinskii / Maguey Madre Chishe
Mezcal Joven — Oaxaca, Mexico
Reviewed January 14, 2020Made from 2 rare species of agave, this Canadian owned mezcal company is doing big things for the market here. As opposed to its lighter, more grassy/smoky entry level, this one drinks like it's been aged with a more mineral kick. Enjoy as a sipper and invest!
