Sampled this one with the cheese and kisses at Rodney's Bait & Tackle. Bloke on the piano was going for it. Undercover cops came in and stood out like undercover cops. This was probably a 2.5, pretty decent. Like a step up maybe to a bit of a fuller flavour from the Glenlivet 12 but I'm not a smart man

Taste at Swallow Bar, Maylands with Mike and Tim. Played a game of guess the year until close. Hit Teenage Dirtbag and Stacey's Mom on the nose for double points. This was very clean tasting but flavours didn't do much for me, and not digging the seemingly short finish. Found it more herbal and less sweet & floral than suggested here. Ok, but my least favourite out of the Japanese stuff I've tried

Dalwhinnie 15 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed September 12, 2016 (edited November 10, 2016)Yeah pretty alright - subtle, smooth, easy drinking, sweet & floral. More on the 3 side. An excessively fat Scottish couple brought this to my folks and left a half bottle behind and I said thankyoup -
Haig Club Single Grain
Single Grain — Lowlands, Scotland
Reviewed September 12, 2016 (edited November 10, 2016)Grain whisky - I drank it rocked as offered by a mate. Different flavour, liked the vanilla in there, kind of refreshing but a bit flat too - probably wouldn't go this one neat. The second star is for the bottle! -
Jura Superstition
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed September 12, 2016 (edited April 24, 2018)Didn't think overly much of this, bit boring. Just a taste at Henry on Eighth, Maylands. Bit of light smoke in the background. A little bland & uninteresting up front though. More 1 than 2. If you break a mirror you may have to drink this for ten years which would suck -
Talisker Storm
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed September 12, 2016 (edited November 19, 2016)Boys bottle with cigars (I passed on the sticks) at a wedding in Byron Bay. Liked it ok, reminded me of the Ardbeg 10, only not quite so good or full tasting. Still very enjoyable, and the price was right. Don't mind if I did -
Nikka Taketsuru 12 Year Pure Malt
Blended Malt — Japan
Reviewed September 12, 2016 (edited September 15, 2016)Tried this at The Farm in Byron Bay as a nightcap after dinner and a few froths. Tricked a kid into thinking a fake horse was more like a real horse. Good flavours, clean tasting, balanced, not overly sweet. Nice stuff -
Ardbeg Uigeadail
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed September 12, 2016 (edited September 18, 2016)Only tried, never owned. First was with Mikey after some BBQ ribs and such. Had a bottle of the ten year at the time which I love, but this was an even better and more complex mix of smoky, sweet and full with a long long finish. Whole bar smelt like it was on fire. Young barman commented it smelt super strong, and probably not for him. Still that distinctive Ardbeg flavour. So good!
