Bunnahabhain 12 Year
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed September 13, 2017 (edited September 23, 2017)Had it after three course French for $50 at Holly Rayes with Brown Bear, UC, Laura, Jenna and CC. French onion soup and baked cheesecake were winners but the veal main was a bit average. Wandered down the road and had a couple, this and an Ardbeg 10 which I drink heaps. This was ok but I am pretty picky with the Islay's really always comparing to my fav two Ardbeg and Lagavulin. It tasted like it had a hint of something fishy in there and was well balanced but a bit meh. Washed it down with another Ardbeg -
This isn't the Heartwood I had but it isn't listed here. I had a half nip of the Heartwood @#$%^&* 2006 10yo Tasmania Distillery Port Sherry Finish 500ml 62.50%. It was my birthday and I'd been with Riss and black Steve and CC to Feral drinking Biggie Juice and accidentally ordered two beers at once cos the bartender dun fucked up and then I drank a real high abv imperial stout and it was all a slippery slope. Long story shorter CC still loved me enough to take me to Spritz for pasta my favourite where the waiter slams down your ragu and shouts WALLA! Then to Measure for dessert where they had half nips of this going for cost price which was handy. It tasted rich and full with a slight burn and really long finish of toasted nuts and stewed apple and rhubarb pie. Or not, I was pretty drunk by that stage. Called in sick for work the next day. Had at Swallow bar with my black friend Steve, his brother and Bud. We went to Porkies BBQ first and for the first time in history I didn't eat way too much of the BBQ. Had a real good brisket sambo, chips and a potato salad. This Glenmo was very easy down with heaps of dried fruit flavour and chocolatey stuff smoothing it all out. Wish I wasn't aware of the chocolate malt prior to tasting to see if I'd have naturally picked it. Really delicious and would love me a bottle of this. Medium finish. Great

GlenDronach Original 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed February 19, 2017 (edited March 11, 2017)Bottle at home. Think it went better after being opened a while. Smells great, tastes good. Nice rich sherried and torched fruit cake flavours, but maybe a little less interesting than the 15 which rules. High twos to a three. Still well worth a bottle buy -
Lagavulin 12 Year (2016 Special Release)
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed February 19, 2017 (edited March 11, 2017)Had when thoughts turned to whisky with me mate Shano at The Guildford Hotel for Jenna's 30th. Cask strength and had this one rocked. Happy that Shano loved it, might have another recruit. Very good and seemed like it may have even had the 16 covered too which is saying something but I'm not quite sure what
