Frey Ranch Single Barrel Cask Strength Straight Bourbon (Four Grain)
Bourbon — Nevada, USA
Reviewed July 6, 2022 (edited September 25, 2023)I tried two of these, Bourbon Life and Liquor World. Both were excellent, but quite different. Bourbon Life was oakier with caramel and vanilla flavors. It had a strong grain flavor too, but not offensive and turned fruity on the finish after it had time to breathe a bit. The Liquor World had more fruit across the nose and palate and tasted older and more well rounded; what I think of in a typical bourbon. Very impressed!150.0 USD per BottleMile City Church - Plymouth -
Wilderness Trail Family Reserve Single Barrel Cask Strength Bourbon (Wheated Bourbon)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 2, 2022Great whiskey. My bottle is from Superfine Wine in Canton MI. Just over 5 years old. Really nice, well balanced, but drinks it’s high proof. If you’re okay with a hot whiskey, this is great. For me, maybe 1/10 times it comes out too hot until my palate adapts60.0 USD per BottleSuper fine Wine & Liquor -
Chattanooga Whiskey Single Barrel Riverstone pick
Bourbon — Tennessee , USA
Reviewed February 25, 2022Very light nose, pleasant, but not as potent as I’d like. I get a bit of the malt on the nose and it’s just not my favorite aroma. Palate is very nice, it doesn’t taste as high malt as the other Chattanooga expressions I’ve had. This tastes much more like a traditional bourbon to me. Bright and fresh. Finish is medium long, flashes of caramel and stone fruit pop. -
Chattanooga Whiskey Bottled in Bond (Spring 2017 Vintage)
Bourbon — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed February 25, 2022 (edited July 21, 2022)The nose on this is a bit odd to me initally, after it sat a bit, I warmed up to it.The high malt comes through across the palate feel, very reminiscent of scotch. I get loads of chocolate, & a good level of rye spice. Finish is ultra short. -
William Larue Weller Bourbon (Fall 2015)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 24, 2022 (edited December 27, 2022)Really nice. Tasted with a few other heavy hitters and this was the least favorite. It’s got a great wheat flavor late in the palate -
Old Fitzgerald Bottled in Bond 11 Year (Fall 2021)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 13, 2022 (edited July 2, 2022)A good wheated bourbon. The second Old Fitz I’ve had, I had this next to Maker’s 46 cask strength and found that more flavorful and enjoyable. This pour reminds me of the other Old Fitzgerald pours I’ve had. Nothing fancy, nothing jumps out as dominate flavors, just a well balanced, easy drinking whiskey. -
Old Fitzgerald Bottled in Bond 8 Year (Spring 2021)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 13, 2022Just a well executed wheated bourbon, nothing that blows my mind. Well balanced and good flavors. I’ve had it twice now and had the same impression both times. most recently side by side with OWA. It was pretty similar to that, but a bit more earthy on the nose and palate. Good drinker, beautiful packaging.22.0 USD per Pour -
Saint Cloud 7 Year Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 12, 2022123.3 proof local pick. Ethanol on the nose, very faint hint of caramel. Palate is the same, not a lot going on. Soapy. Slight caramel. Finish is the same. Not much happening. Residual soap and a little caramel. This was a sample from a friend in a sample bottle, possible the soap flavor came from that, but I received other samples and no others had the soapy taste.
