Interesting nose with some perfumey qualities, pine and oak as well. Light but sharp taste, again with some pine coming through. A little honey, some light fruitiness. But mainly mild wood. Not bad but not worth the $70 price tag in my opinion. It is interesting and could be fun at a whisky tasting, just not something I'd buy again.

The nose is just sugar, vanilla and a touch of wood. This palate is a sweet explosion. Toasted oatmeal cookie with a little caramelized sugar, some maple syrup and a huge dollop of vanilla. Not super complex but clean, smooth and worth trying if you like sweeter whiskies.

Malt, sweet sherry, peat and touches of caramel. This is a great 12 yr old. Highland Park is pretty delicious and there are hidden fruit flavors in here that peak out as you drink it. Overall very nice.

I feel like this is a good example of why age doesn't necessarily mean good when it comes to whisky. I have a bottle of this at home that I'll be pushing on unsuspecting visitors to try and get rid of it faster. Overall, it's kind of like sherried rubbing alcohol. I've sat with this thing several times and I'm not getting anything more than that out of it. A friend bought a bottle for a tasting we did and it was even worse out of a fresh bottle. Not a fan and not something I'd recommend.

I don't know what it is but I do love this stuff. It's predominantly peat smoke with a core of solid maltiness - and that's pretty much all my taste buds can easily pick out. There's other flavor lurking in here and maybe that's why I keep coming back for more whenever I'm in the mood for a peated whisky.

This is some pretty nice stuff. Well balanced fruits, malt and peat smoke. Very smooth and drinkable. Definitely shouldn't need any water here, it's already at 80 proof and water would just whittle away the balance they've achieved. As nice as this is to drink though, it's not actually worth the price in my opinion. Too expensive for what is not an overly interesting scotch. But great if you get a bottle as a gift!

Copper, peat, light fruit sweetness with some delicious barley malt/cereal flavor and a touch of vanilla. This is a great whisky with a nice light to medium level of peat smoke to the malt. In all honesty the copper I get is one of the things I like most about this, it's like a dirty penny but in a great way.

Hot hits of alcohol but some water will help get past that. This opens up as a great bourbon with delicious sweetness. The flavors I get off this are actually marshmellow and macaroons with a little bit of malty cereal/graham cracker and vanilla. Well work buying in my opinion.

This is not small batch whisky, this is sourced from somewhere else (MGP/LDI) and bottled in Iowa. The marketing spiel is also pretty much complete BS meant to move product. But what about flavor? Well, it's very smooth, mainly some vanilla sweetness and really light spiciness unlike most rye whiskey where spice is the predominant flavors. This is a pretty neutral whisky. The real question is what are they adding to flavor it. Cause there's apparently an chemical cocktail additive they had purposely created to add into this whisky. I have no idea what that is, nor have I found anything that speaks to this online yet but in my opinion that makes this a flavored whisky. Its just a question of what the flavoring is...

Not bad stuff. This sits it a pleasant middle ground. Not too expensive, not too smokey, not to fruity. This is honeyed citrus with hints of sea salt, a tiny touch of iodine and a little waxiness to the taste similar to what I get out of Clynelish. Decent stuff for a good price.
