Reviewed December 6, 2020 (edited December 29, 2020)Nose: peat, salt, seaweed, smoked damp earthy moss, iodine Palate: peat, brine and salt, earthy smoke. Oily mouthfeel is delightful. Finish: a touch of spiciness and pepper, some subtle smoke. Rich peat lingers with a hint of brine. Some late rich and dark fruity sweetness. Not nearly as much ethanol burn as you might expect considering the abv.75.0 USD per Bottle -
Benriach The Smoky Ten
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed November 24, 2020 (edited June 27, 2021)Nose: earthy smoke, iodine, a touch of peat, spiced oak reminiscent of rum Palate: dark, rich fruit including cherry and honey with a touch of caramel sweetness to start that progresses to peat and campfire smoke with some spiciness reminiscent of rum Finish: mostly smoke and peat with a bit of ripe fruit, a touch of salt -
Nose: Sherry and cream. Bandaid. Fruity. Very faint smoke. Palate: cherry and oak, spice, malt, vanilla, a trace of cinnamon. Thin mouth feel Finish: cinnamon and cardamom up front, transitioning to sherry and vanilla with a touch of oak and cinnamon. Finish has more endurance than I initially expected, although mostly the sherry and vanilla linger with a slightly bitter edge.

Blended — Wicklow, Ireland
Reviewed September 25, 2020 (edited November 9, 2020)Inspection: straw/ pale golden Nose: spice and vanilla most prominent, some honey subtle bandaid Palate: honey, vanilla, spice, cinnamon, subtly nutty, barley grass. A bit thin mouthfeel Finish: very smooth and sweet. Honey and caramel with a touch of toffee -
Nose: Earthy peat and smoke, dry wood, astringent and medicinal iodine Palate: Thin mouth feel. Campfire, vanilla, salt/brine, oak, spices like black pepper and a touch of cardamom, touch of malt, a touch of licorice. The iodine is subtle. With water amplifies the sweetness and minimizes the smoke Finish: salty up front progressive to long finish with vanilla, peat, oak, hint of malt. The subtle iodine sticks around very late along with the peaty smoke.
