Compass Box Great King St Glasgow Blend
Blended — Scotland
Reviewed April 5, 2016 (edited April 24, 2018)Definite smoke from opening the bottle to swallowing each sip. It's rather chimney like but it's not in an overwhelming way. There are other notes of cherry and milder ones of nuts from the Sherry cask. Not all that balanced. A little disappointing. -
Compass Box Great King St Artist's Blend
Blended — Scotland
Reviewed April 5, 2016 (edited April 24, 2018)Fruity aroma of red apples jumps out right away with more subtle spicy notes sneaking up behind. Creamy and smooth mouthfeel with some sweet vanilla flavor. Enjoyable by itself but can see this being great to mix with and at a reasonable price. -
Enjoyed neat. Light straw color. Sweet aroma of coconut, vanilla, creme brulee and notes of a creaminess to come. More vanilla and coconut upon tasting, sweetness comes through with a rich, creamy mouthfeel. Sweet finish with a pleasant warming though extremely smooth and enjoyable. An exceptional dram.

Compass Box The Peat Monster (Classic Brown Label)
Blended Malt — Scotland
Reviewed March 30, 2016 (edited April 9, 2016)Enjoyed neat. Light straw in color. Smells of a lit and slowly burning cigar that was rolled with bacon. Very smoky even sitting back from the bar that the glass is sitting on, very pungent. Smokiness is prevalent upon first taste but there's an underlying sweetness and even a mild tart character with a rich mouthfeel. Not for the faint of palate with the amount of smoky peat. -
Glenlivet 12 Year Double Oak
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed March 12, 2016 (edited November 7, 2016)Simple. Straightforward. Unsophisticated. Rather light bodied, mild honey sweetness, a touch of vanilla, minimal warmth, easy to drink, short finish Nothing crazy but far from bad. Forgettable for its simplicity. Memorable for its consistency. -
High West Campfire (Discontinued)
Blended American Whiskey — (bottled in Utah), Multiple Countries
Reviewed March 7, 2016 (edited April 24, 2018)The peat smoke hits first and throughout with the slightest hint of some kind of stone fruit, perhaps apricot. Medium bodied, mellow, very smoky without being over the top. Smooth and tasty, reminiscent of scotch.
