Knob Creek 9 Year Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed July 26, 2020 (edited May 6, 2021)Welcome back, 9 yr age statement, and the rich, oaky, boldness that fell in love with 15 yrs ago. Still under 30$ at my local grocery store!28.0 USD per Bottle -
I love this! With the vanilla and the molasses added, when enjoyed neat I get a funky rum vibe, almost a black strap rum. I like rum, so I'm okay with that. But this isn't meant to be enjoyed neat. The reason I would give it a 4 is because it is perfect with cola as at the restaurant. Here's why I'm going to be buying more of this juice: 2.5 ounces in a cocktail shaker with ice, 4 dashes of bitters, stir for one minute, pour into a cold rocks glass, add a cherry. No vermouth needed. This is absolutely ideal as a Manhattan. Well done!33.0 USD per Bottle

Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 6, 2020 (edited May 3, 2021)One of my favorite small batch bourbons, even with the change from 12 yr labeling to NAS. Still one of the best noses in bourbon for me. Not the stale maple syrup (not a bad thing) anymore, but rich butterscotch caramel. The higher corn percentage in the mashbill gives it a sweetness that is given a rich depth by getting to know the oak barrel for awhile. The color, nose, taste, and finish tells you that there's still some 12 year juice in here. Sip it neat and enjoy a Kentucky hug.23.0 USD per Bottle -
A delicious bourbon that, as they say, checks all the boxes for me. I'm not a huge fan of the higher rye spiciness which is why, for me, it doesn't rate higher. For me the kicker is the honey lemon notes that I get. Halls Honey Lemon Eucalyptus to be exact. Particularly on the finish and the post-finish breath in. This is cold medicine for adults! It also makes a great Old Fashioned, a classic Manhattan, and an elegant Boulevardier.31.0 USD per Bottle

Evan Williams White Label Bottled in Bond Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 14, 2020 (edited April 28, 2020)Every bourbon that I've ever enjoyed, I've enjoyed more at a higher proof. EWBIB is no exception. Higher proof always amplifies the notes that make bourbon so pleasing to me. The note that stands out with this bourbon is the corn sweetness. Vanilla custard, creme brulee...I agree with that certainly, but for me, it's a memory of my Grandma Oli's kuka pie. It was a vanilla custard pie with cinnamon on top with a crust of her yeasty cinnamon roll dough. This is a delicious bourbon!18.0 USD per Bottle -
A definite Kentucky hug. For me, the perfect bourbon. Knob Creek was my first bourbon in 2006 and remains my favorite. Beautiful color. Fatty, rich toasted Brazil nuts in the aroma. Sweet oak, through and through. Delicious. And, unfortunately, I drained the bottle. At less than 25$ in my local grocery store, I will always have a bottle in my cupboard. Drink your bourbon!25.0 USD per Bottle

1792 Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 10, 2020 (edited February 25, 2020)Not my favorite bourbon to be sure, but delicious nonetheless. Compared to my normal preferences, I would call 1792 "bourbon light". Light mahogany in color, light carmel at the beginning, decent char notes, but the fruit I get is kind of a watermelon/banana note. Today , it finally dawned on me that this might be what Jack Daniels might be like if you upped the bottling proof and didn't filter it with the Lincoln County Process. Glenfiddich 14 Year Bourbon Barrel Reserve
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed November 12, 2019Not sure why, maybe it's the oxidation that does it, but this was the last dram of the bottle and, to me, the best dram. Everything smoothed out a bit. Almost like a few drops of water were added. I actually got a little more of all the notes. I love how this lovely liquid changed as I progressed through the bottle. This was money well spent. Regardless the whiskey, I learn something with each tipple.45.0 USD per BottleService Liquor Store
