Highland Park Magnus
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed August 30, 2018 (edited August 31, 2018)tastes great smells great, the sweetness of a Glenlivet with the peatiness of Lagavulin. the nose is super welcoming and the peatiness is quickly blanketed with sweet vanilla caramel smoothness. the flavor lingers on and slowly dies into a faint cry for another sip. this fifth ain't gonna last long. no complaints.26.99 USD per Bottle -
Glenfiddich 12 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed August 22, 2018 (edited September 30, 2018)when I first got into scotch I focused on single malts and any time I had blended it just tasted weird to me. Glenfiddich 12 was no exception. These days I don't care. Blended scotches seem fun and complex to me now. I love the 14 yr because it smells sweet like a good bourbon but goes down like a scotch, I decided to try the 12 again thinking maybe I'd get more out of it. The nose is great. I dig it. Very sweet smelling. The taste isn't so exciting but it's not bad. At this price though I'm still gonna have to go with Glenlivet 12. -
...and after 50ml went down a little to quick before I started typing, I'm kind of at a loss of words. Definitely agree with the tasting graph that it's super spicy, went down pretty harsh compared to scotches and other ryes, but till my next shot I will delve deeper, for now I'm staying neutral with 3 stars.

not bad at all, for this price I hope to save some for enough time to A/B compare to red label, j&b rare and the famous grouse... other budget favorites... it's certainly drinkable but definitely a sharp spice on the swallow that lingers. the scent is not memorable, but neutral enough that I can't say anything too good or too terrible about it. at this price just something to fill the cabinet with another option for when friends are over but nothing worth talking about to anyone you trying to impress.16.99 USD per Bottle

Inside a Hennessy snifter, I got nothing on the nose, just *something* sweet. *Some* candy.... The sip going down is spicy, sweet and smooth. Crazy at this price, quite enjoyable to sip. I kinda wanna try it next to Courvoisier and Henny VS. I feel like it'd take an easy bronze metal if not conquering them both. Till then this is the end of my review. ...And the end of this 200ml. ;-)

In this price range I prefer Paul Masson. Christian Brothers "VS" is drinkable, I'm not a cocktail guy but if you drink it right there is no burn, as with most liquor I find. The nose is sweet, but simple, goes down pretty smooth with hints of bourbon. If you on a budget and they outta Paul Masson, go for it.

Espolòn Reposado Tequila
Tequila Reposado — Los Altos, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed May 29, 2018 (edited July 20, 2023)Not for me. Not at this price point. I'd rather El Jimador Reposado. Haven't had Espolón blanco yet, that's the one everyone seems to get.... Not knocking the expression till I've had the others, but the reposado, one big thumb down. $20 i'll never see again. haha
